Mas des Oliviers offers you comfort and tranquillity set in its grounds of ancient olive terraces, with stunning views to the perched village of Fayence, just 5 minutes away (by car). An ideal base for exploring the Cote d'Azur or eastern Provence. On the main floor, the beamed living/dining room opens onto a covered balcony with superb views. The separate fully equipped kitchen includes dishwasher. There is also a double bedroom and a separate shower/WC. On an upper floor there is an attic (full height) twin bedroom. The lower floor, which leads out onto the pool level, has 1 double (king-size) and 1 twin room, bathroom/WC and laundry room. You can enjoy the privacy of the pool and garden from a choice of sunny and shady areas. The terraces of the 10m x 5m pool adjoin the summer kitchen, which has all you need for poolside living - BBQ, fridge, cooker etc. We have table tennis and boules in the garden. Plenty of parking spaces.

Fayence is one of a chain of 5 hilltop villages, often referred to as 'the string of pearls'. It is only 25 minutes drive from the A8 motorway, giving easy access to the towns and beaches of the Riviera coast, such as Cannes, Frejus/St Raphael, St Tropez. If you prefer to explore locally, try the hilltop villages and beautiful countryside. Grasse, the world capital of perfume, is within 30 minutes. Further inland, the spectacular Gorges de Verdon are just over 1 hour away. The area has many small village markets with local produce, larger traditional Provencal markets, and brocante and antiques markets. We also have local vineyards offering visits and tastings. In high season, many villages stage open-air concerts. Nearby towns are famous for pottery, glassworks, and art galleries. As far as restaurants are concerned, you have a great choice of cuisine and price, many offering typical Provencal menus. There are even 3 Michelin-star restaurants within 15 minutes

Notes to the rental rates

  • Changeover day is usually Saturday, although this is more flexible out of the main summer season.
    Our prices include bedlinen and towels (not beach), electricity, gas and cleaning prior to and after your stay. On bookings of more than one week, there is a weekly linen change and short interim cleaning included.
  • Deposit of 25% is required when booking is made please, balance 8 weeks prior to arrival date.
    A refundable security deposit of £300 is required.
  • Discounts available for parties of 4 or less out of peak season. Please ask.

Notes:

We have tried to make the house as comfortable and convenient as possible for your stay. The living/dining area has English (free-to-view) and French TV. There is a wealth of local information available - days out, restaurants, markets, walking maps etc. The bedrooms are divided over 3 levels, affording a degree of flexibility for larger groups. As well as having cooling fans, each room has shutters and/or insect-screened window for your further comfort. For winter rentals there is a wood burning stove in the living room, and central heating throughout the house. The swimming pool area is not overlooked and the summer kitchen is equipped with crockery, glasses etc. for all those aperitifs and meals on the terrace. The swimming pool has an alarm to comply with French law, although young children still require supervision, and we feel the layout of the house and gardens make it unsuitable for toddler-age children. We request no smoking inside the house.

Fayence and area

Fayence is a very attractive village, from the historic hilltop centre to the hillsides and the lower plain. The area has supermarkets, shops offering local produce, workshops for local pottery, candles, glass - all you could need without going too far. The neighbouring historic villages of Seillans, Tourrettes, Callian and Montauroux all have their own character and are worth exploring. For your travel plans, Fayence is accessible in many ways: Driving: Only 25 mins from Junction 39 of the A8 Motorway Train or Motorail: Avignon (2 hrs) Nice (1 hr) Frejus/St Raphael (45 mins) Air: Nice Airport (45 mins) served by several UK airlines, including Easyjet from several UK Airports. Toulon Airport is about 90 mins.

Local activities

The superb Lac St Cassien is only 15 minutes away (you'll pass it if you come from the A8 motorway). It offers swimming, fishing, pedalo-hire, sailing (non-motor) and picnic areas. In the forest surrounding the lake, there are popular tracks for mountain-biking and walking. The world-famous Fayence Gliding Club offers flights, or you can just call in for a meal or drink and watch the action. Our nearest golf is at the Four Seasons resort, Terre Blanche, 15 minutes away, but there are many golf courses in the area.

Other attractions

A day at the beach. The coast is renowned for its varied resorts and spectacular scenery. Nearest beaches La Napoule (30 minutes) or Frejus (40 minutes). It's an easy drive to towns such as St Paul de Vence, Antibes, St Tropez or Vallauris which have art galleries with exhibitions of the work of such artists as Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Chagall. The village of Biot is famous for its glassworks, and Vallauris for pottery. Enjoy the scents and colours of Provencal markets. Take the coastal train to Nice. Walk or cycle in the picturesque Esterel hills. Drive the famous 'Corniche' road. See the glitz of Monte Carlo. Head up to the mountains and the Gorges de Verdon. Relax by the pool. The choice is yours!
