Le Lavandou holiday house: Le Rayol-Canadel sur Mer

My trip to Le Rayol is now 3 years ago (2006) but I still love to sit back and relive it. La Desirade was just as the picture shows. It was spectacular!!! I loved it so much I had an artist paint a pictue of it from one of my photos. I also keep a framed photo on my desk as well as my wallpaper on my laptop. This way I can see La Desirade everyday and when I need to get away in my mind for a few moments, it's perfect. It takes me right back to the 2 weeks I spent there. The house was located just down the hill from the small village of Le Rayol. Every morning one of our party would walk into town and purchase fresh croissants from the bakery for our breakfast. So yummy!!! We had rented a car so we'd then go exploring one of the neighboring villages. We visited Le Lavandou, Aix, La Garde Freinet, Grimaud, Saint Tropez (by boat) and Ramatuelle. All were gorgeous and very easy to get to by car! We'd usually returned to La Desirade for a lunch of fresh greens, bread, meat, cheese, olives, and wine. We'd then treck down the hill and visit the beach for the afternoon. In the evenings, we either cooked on the wonderful barbecue at the house (after relaxing on the deck), or we would venture out to a nearby town for a luscious dinner.

The scenery in and around Le Rayol was beautiful. The town had a grocery store, butcher, and bakery so all of our culinary needs were within walking distance. The house had a full kitchen so we didn't need anything extra. One night we roasted lamb on the barbecue and it was divine!

There were 5 of us at the house and we could have easily had at one more.

It was a perfect holiday that I will always remember. We'd love to go back one day and I would highly recommend all of it to anyone.
