"Summertime" is a single storey house facing south and looking out over the sea and the Isles de Levant. It is extremely secluded as the only way in from the road is via the front door! All rooms except the bunk bedroom lead out onto one of the two terraces with their spectacular views, and there are paths leading down from each terrace to the coastal path and the rocks below, then it is is two minutes to the golden sandy beach of St. Clair.

  • I have had to put my prices up after quite a few years at the old price because of the tremendous increase on cost of things in France.My weekly cleaning bill for the house has now gone up to 150 euros a time. I am so sorry but I have been making a loss! I do hope that all my old faithful tenants who come back year after year will understand.

One of the twin rooms has bunk beds, and there is a dining area on the west terrace, which is overhung with mimosa. Garden chairs, loungers and a baby's cot are available. Extra cleaning and baby-sitting services are available. The old fishing port of Le Lavandou is 5 minutes walk away, abounding with restaurants, charcuteries, poissoneries, delicatessens, and the fishermen sell their catch every Thursday at about 10 am. Or you could just sit outside one of the cafe/bars facing the sea in the sunshine, and watch the French enjoy their never ending game of Boules.

Perfection again!

This has been our 4th visit to Summertime but our first in the summer.
As usual Jill had done a great job getting the villa ready and the "at home" feeling grabs you straight away. We spent a lot of time sitting on the terrace watching life go on beneath us and then in the evening transfered to Le Lavandou to continue people watching.
It's great to be able to walk into the town to shop daily,(the car stays in the car port from the afternoon we arrive to the day we leave!) but we also had 2 good meals out, one at Le Krill and one at the habourside where we had the full fish platter. It is worth remembering to take a torch for late night returns if you are using the coast path.
We prefer to swim from the rocks beneath Summertime, my husband loves to snorkle and I find the swimming much more enjoyable away from the beach. We tended to swim first thing in the morning and later in the afternoon both times when the tourists have gone and only the locals remain.
Despite good intentions we were unable to tear ourselves away from the comfort of Summertime and visit the islands.
Summertime is not an all mod cons type of place but the situation and the fabulous views make up for any shortcomings.
One note, we flew to Marseilles and this proved to be a much more pleasant experience than Nice airport on a very busy summer saturday. The journey from Marseilles was also much easier.
I have no doubt that we will be returning to Summertime soon.

our wonderful week in

we have just returned from a perfect week spent in Summertime. The location is breathtaking - to wake up every morning to the sound of the sea and the view of the ocean....everything is within walking distance so dont stress yourselves with car rentals etc...the house itself is old world so dont expect luxury but do expect a great sense of happiness in the house you can sit outside on a number of different terraces and get various different views - we shall certainly be returning. Le Lavendou is just a couple of minutes walk away and is a delightful town with plenty of shops and restaurants and coffee areas to while away a few hours - there is a very good market there on thursday am my advice is to be there for 9 a.m. as it gets terribly busy - bring couple baskets with you and load up on veg, fruit, seafood, cooked chickens, tapenades, wine, oils, cheese - the list is endless but you could prepare a feast from the produce there. St Clair beach is 5 mins walk and is delightful - we did walk to la fossette beach around by the cliffs but would not do the walk again especially with young children - use the beach train - this beach is lovely but go prepared as there are no shops only a beach restaurant that serves only cold food during the day.
we did to to portequerolles for the day the water there is amazing again go prepared plenty of water and sunscreen.
its just a great part of the world and the people are terribly helpful and friendly - enjoy!

Incredible views on the sea!

lovely southfacing terraces, nice diving spot, You don't need car for shopping.
All is clean,the garden very flowered.
The owner gives all informations, you are not alone!
Very nice landscapes near the lavandou like Collobrières (restaurant la petite Fontaine), La chartreuse de Verne, and la chapelle sainte Constance....
Only one difficulty : park the car in the carport is not easy when there are lot of people on the road! But you can park on st-clair or new port parking (free)
Sure I will come Summertine next year! It is and Eden!
