The House:
The house has four floors. The ground floor comprises a fully equipped 'American' kitchen complete with granite counters, 5 burner gas stove, dishwasher, micro, oven and all conceivable dishware and cooking utensils. There is a working fireplace and large country table that will accommodate up to 10. The first floor has 2 twin beds, working fireplace and separate entrance that opens to a small terrace and stairway to the courtyard. There are 2 large closet. The second floor houses the Master bedroom and full bath. A 'queen' size bed and plenty of closet space. The generous sized tiled bathroom has full tub and shower w/separate WC. The fourth floor is decorated in medieval fashion with tapestries, swords and banners. Large leather couch converts to a comfortable sleeper bed. Four panel leaded and stained glass French doors open onto the balcony with panoramic views of the town and countryside. Large working fireplace adds to the charm of this spectacular room.
Exterior:
A nice size walled-in courtyard gives privacy as well as charm to this property. Perfect place for breakfast or afternoon drink. Amenities include BBQ, table and seating for 6. Great for those al fresco dinners. A laundry room (Washer & Drier) plus a convenient shower and WC are located in this newly renovated room off of the courtyard.
The 'Parrage' or old section is a walled village of stone houses, narrow cobbled stone streets, small parks and beautiful vistas. You will not be bothered by traffic but perhaps a few tourists will be on hand to admire the village. Great place to explore and walk.
'New Village' and Area:
Of course, the village has its 'petanque'. From May-September the streets, whilst never overcrowded, buzz with ambiance - frequent 'fetes', open-air movies and busy bars. In the spring, mild, sunny days, in the autumn, delicious game dishes, truffles and crepes, and in winter, the cosy comfort of log fires. Within a five minute walk of the house you find the bakers, butchers, grocers, newsagent, post office, bars and restaurants. Within a ten minute drive, two supermarkets and a large choice of restaurants and speciality shops. Thursday is market day in Les Arcs...not to be missed.
Close to many sites and don't miss the vineyards. Many have tasting rooms. Italy, Nice and Marseille are easy day trips or just get in the car and drive!
