Markets:
Brignoles, Carces, Lorgues and Salernes all have markets on different days of the week. these are colourful affairs where you can sample the local produce, ranging from a myriad local cheeses, sausages and salamis, hams, ready cooked meals such as spit roasted chickens, Cous Cous, Bouillabaisse and Paella, flowers, fruit and vegetables as well as examples of local handicrafts, home made olive oil and the delicious Tapenade and Anchoiade spreads. Details of market days will be given on arrival.
Village Festivals:
There are countless festivals and shows in the surrounding villages throughout the summer as well as antique fairs and the French equivalent of a Car boot sale or Vide-grenier. The local tourist office in Carces will have leaflets about all the events as well as useful information about interesting exhibitions and shows.
Sports activities:
There is a Go Kart track in Hyeres suitable for all ages. The golf course at Barbaroux is quite good and welcoming to visitors. There is a swimming lake in Vins sur Caramy (halfway to Brignoles). Bikes can be rented in Carces and the trails around the lake ( on one side no cars are allowed) and up the hills are pretty much car free. The Vallee Sourn has literally dozens of marked climbs for all levels of rock climbers. For the more demanding and challenging pitches of the Gorges Du Verdon it is better to arrange to go with an experienced guide which can be arranged by the tourist office in Carces.
