Set in the pine and oak forest overlooking the Lac de Carces in the Var region of Provence, 'La Regalade' is a lovely recently renovated villa consisting of two double rooms, bathroom with separate WC, a chambre d'ami (single bedroom off the living room patio with shower and WC), open plan kitchen, living/dining room. The double bedrooms open out onto a tree-shaded terrace and the living area onto a small terrace and swimming pool with views over the Lac de Carces. The open-plan living/dining room is comfortably furnished with a sofa bed, TV, DVD player and Stereo. and the kitchen is equipped with a gas hob with electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. The swimming pool is fitted with an automatic alarm system in compliance with French regulations. There are also sun loungers, outdoor tables and chairs, and a gas barbecue. Bed and bath linen are provided. Nearest airports: Toulon/Hyeres 1 hour, Marseilles/Marignane 1 hour, Nice Cote d'Azur 1hour 15 minutes.

Just 10 min. from Carces and Cabasse La Regalade lies in a hamlet overlooking Lac de Carces (Fishing). Surrounded by oak & pine forests the area may seem off the beaten track, but within 15 min. you can be on the A8 motorway to Aix-en-Provence ( West), Cannes & Nice (East) & Toulon/Hyeres ( South). The beaches at Hyeres, St. Tropez and Frejus beckon in a mere 45 min. In 20 min. you can be scaling the rock walls of Vallon Sourn & 30 min more brings you to the Gorges du Verdon, France's Grand Canyon, a rock climbers & hikers paradise with hang-gliding,rafting & fishing. 20 min & you are on the fairways at Barbaroux Golf Club. For the less sporty there are the wall -to-wall vineyards & olive groves with wonderful fresh wines to taste at the Village Cooperatives & 'Domaines'. Every day is market day in one of the nearby villages of Carces, Cotignac, Lorgues and Salernes. Concerts at the historic Abbaye du Thoronet are a joy all summer long as is Jazz at the Château de Berne

Additional information about rental rates

  • Prices are per week. Week begins Saturday at 4PM and ends Saturday at 10AM.
    Deposit 25% on booking, payable in UK pounds by bank transfer, which is non-refundable in case of cancellation, unless villa has been resold for the period.
    Balance is payable six weeks prior to arrival plus security deposit of 350 UK pounds which is refundable subject to inventory.
    Rent can also be paid in Euro to owner's bank account in France
  • Euros 800 per month for long winter lets on monthly basis. Please contact the owner to discuss. Utilities are extra but should not be onerous if woodburning stove is used rather than gas central heating

  • Water is heated by a gas boiler which also heats the water for the central heating. The WC is separate from the bathroom

  • The two double rooms look out onto a tree-shaded terrace and the single looks out onto the swimming pool patio. The beds are new with firm mattresses (Ikea). Outside there are sun loungers, an umbrella and outdoor tables and chairs. The photos hardly do justice to the views. 10 minutes walk up the hill, an easy climb up a blue-paint marked path, and you will get a 180 degree view of the surrounding area.

Notes: Access to the villa is by a path and staircase leading down from the car parking above. The villa is located on a steep slope with terraces. The lower part of the garden is fenced. Access for wheelchairs is unfortunately not possible because of the stairs and the steep slope.

Markets: Brignoles, Carces, Le Luc, Lorgues and Salernes all have markets on different days of the week as do most villages in the area. These are colourful affairs where you can sample the local produce, ranging from a myriad of cheeses, sausages and salamis, hams, ready cooked meals such as spit roasted chickens, Cous Cous, Bouillabaisse and Paella, flowers, fruit and vegetables as well as examples of local handicrafts, home made olive oil and the delicious Tapenade and Anchoiade spreads. Details of market days will be given on arrival. Bric-a-brac sales are a regular event in Le Cannet every Saturday and there are frequent 'Brocantes' advertised in villages all year round.

Village Festivals: There are countless festivals and shows in the surrounding villages throughout the summer as well as antique fairs and the French equivalent of a Car boot sale or Vide-grenier. The local tourist office in Carces will have leaflets about all the events as well as useful information about interesting exhibitions, concerts and shows.

Sports activities: There are Go Kart tracks in Le Luc and Hyeres suitable for all ages. There is a swimming lake in Vins sur Caramy (halfway to Brignoles). Bikes can be rented in Carces and the trails around the lake ( on one side no cars are allowed) and up the hills are pretty much car free. The Vallee Sourn has literally dozens of marked climbs for all levels of rock climbers. For the more demanding and challenging pitches of the Gorges Du Verdon it is better to arrange to go with an experienced guide which can be arranged by the tourist office in Carces. Hikers will have a ball on the innumerable marked trails in sensational scenery. Owner is a keen hiker and will provide details. There are several ranches within 15 minutes or so where horses are available both with and without supervision.

Peaceful Paradise

This lovely property exceeded all expectations. Situated high above a beautiful lake, amid forest of firs and oaks, we were surrounded by the peace and sounds of nature. In this gem of a villa we found everything we could need, and spent blissful days in complete comfort and luxury, and we slept like innocents. Nearby we visited delightful villages and enchanting Provencal countryside. Our owner was friendly, helpful and attentive without being in the least intrusive. For us, this was the perfect restorative fortnight's break.

La Regalade 2 bedroom villa

We booked a two week's holiday in this villa. We come regularly for many years to the Var in Spring and in Autumn because of the fantastic climate. And those two weeks were no exception. The villa is located against a hill side overlooking the Lac de Carces. Very secluded and quiet and ideal for people who want to be away from all the huzzle and buzzle. The villa was well equiped, the pool was very pleasant. We are two OAP's and for us it was ideal. From the villa one can visit a host of little nice villages in the sourrounding, go to the famous Gorge du Verdon, visit Draguignan the capital of the Var or go to the coast and visit places such as Frejus and Nice. The only requirement is to have a car. This villa is highly recommendable.
Owner's Response: It is always difficult to put pictures and impressions into words. This reviewer seems to have done it perfectly. It just goes to show that even early in the season the Var and our villa in particular are well worth a visit. Book early; you will not be disappointed.

Very pleasant and relaxing villa

This villa is situated in the middle of a pine forrest with a beautiful view over the fishing lake. Its very spacious, clean and comfortable. The terrace overlooks the swimming pool which is very well looked after. The owner has provided us with very useful information about the local attractions, restaurants and shops. Our stay was really very pleasant and relaxing and we would like to come back with our new family.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
