Callas is perched on a hill that faces down to the coast 30 kms away. Drive through vineyards and winding roads to this truly traditional little village, with small squares (including the central market square), fountains, the ruins of a 13th-century chateau above & a working olive mill below. The medieval streets include wider, stone step-streets & narrow, arched passages. There are many other hilltop villages to visit nearby, including popular Bargemon 6km away (galleries, arts & crafts, numerous restaurants). Drive to the nearest Riviera beaches in 30 mins- you are in easy reach of lively Ste Maxime or St Raphael, & even chic St Tropez. Alternatively head inland for lake/mountain pursuits (including famous Gorges de Verdon & Lac Ste Croix) & skiing (Val dAllos, Isola etc.). Golf & spa 15 mins away. Delight in the local restaurants and many other activities (listed). La Machotte is an hour from Nice/ Toulon airports (slightly longer to Marseilles) or half hour to Frejus car train.

The ground floor double bedroom has doors leading directly to the upper terrace with its panoramic views. The small next door twin/ child room also has doors which open onto the outside if needed. The two front facing, first floor double bedrooms have wonderful views over the valley. The third bedroom upstairs looks out to olive trees to the side of the house. All rooms have traditional Provencal shutters on the windows.

Kitchen facilities- details are for the indoor kitchen. It is fully equipped, with separate utility/ laundry room & inside & outside clothes drying facilities. Please note, however, that a special feature is the house's outdoor kitchen overlooking the swimming pool. This also has a four ring stove, hob and oven, plus fridge/ freezer, dishwasher & storage units- all built in, but open to the elements under a wooden beam roof. It is a magical place to prepare food, day or night. Meals can be taken in the indoor dining room, the outdoor kitchen dining area or the upper terrace. Pool seating- There are 5 loungers with cushions & umbrellas provided. There is also a selection of other garden tables & chairs that can be moved to suit your needs. The pool is cleaned periodically by our handyman, Jacky, during your stay. As the garden is arranged on a series of levels, there are steps down to the outdoor kitchen and pool area. Consideration needed for elderly guests.
