La Machotte is child friendly with one small bed/cot room & pool security alarm. Just a short drive, or 500m walk along a wooded path, to lovely Callas village (butcher, baker, grocer, newsagent, post office, cave/ winery, weekly market, tabac, two restaurants), La Machotte offers a perfect escape- all the simple pleasures of Provence plus the glamour of the Cote d’Azur on your doorstep. Callas is perched on a hill that faces down to the coast 30 kms away. Drive through vineyards and winding roads to this truly traditional little village, with small squares (including the central market square), fountains, the ruins of a 13th-century chateau above & a working olive mill below. The medieval streets include wider, stone step-streets & narrow, arched passages. There are many other hilltop villages to visit nearby, including popular Bargemon 6km away (galleries, arts & crafts, numerous restaurants). Drive to the nearest Riviera beaches in 30 mins- you are in easy reach of lively Ste Maxime or St Raphael, & even chic St Tropez. Alternatively head inland for lake/mountain pursuits (including famous Gorges de Verdon & Lac Ste Croix) & skiing (Val d’Allos, Isola etc.). Golf & spa 15 mins away. Delight in the local restaurants and many other activities (listed). La Machotte is an hour from Nice/ Toulon airports (slightly longer to Marseilles) or half hour to Frejus car train.

Notes: Kitchen facilities- details are for the indoor kitchen. It is fully equipped, with separate utility/ laundry room & inside & outside clothes drying facilities. Please note, however, that a special feature is the house's outdoor kitchen overlooking the swimming pool. This also has a four ring stove, hob and oven, plus fridge/ freezer, dishwasher & storage units- all built in, but open to the elements under a wooden beam roof. It is a magical place to prepare food, day or night. Meals can be taken in the indoor dining room, the outdoor kitchen dining area or the upper terrace. Pool seating- There are 5 loungers with cushions & umbrellas provided. There is also a selection of other garden tables & chairs that can be moved to suit your needs. The pool is cleaned periodically by our handyman, Jacky, during your stay. As the garden is arranged on a series of levels, there are steps down to the outdoor kitchen and pool area. Consideration needed for elderly guests.

Wonderfull holiday

We are just ending our stay in this lovely villa. It is well equiped and very comfortable. The pool kitchen and TWO dishwashers are a real bonus! It was lovely to arrive and find the beds made up so that we could enjoy our holiday without domestic chores straight away.
Jacky is really 'laid back' and helpful.
We have 5 adults, a baby and small child here and it has proved a great success, so we have already contacted jason aboput next year!
Perhaps an extra sunbed would be useful and a fan in the housse as the back downstairs bedroom is very hot at night..

A beautifully situated villa,well equipped with stunning views to the small village of Callas which is within easy walking distance. We enjoyed a fabulous family holiday combining lazy days by the pool and cooking at home with visits to both simple inexpensive restaurants as well as more complex dining.There is an endless list of places to visit and a tremendous contrast of scenery. We have holidayed in France for the last 11 years and this villa is up there with the best for location and facilities.
Two weeks was definitely not long enough !

The house is situated 5 min walk from the town Callas - a small (too small?) town with a bakery and a small supermarket.

The house is nice with plenty of bedrooms, good quality in kitchen equipment and technical installations. It has a small pool - a little more space around the pool and the house would make it more functional.

Organisation around the house is good. Good instuctions to the house, the possibilities in the area and everything clean and in order.

Find Perfect Relaxation!

The 10 minute walk to the village is delightedful and the local shop owners were friendly and helpful. Having bought local produce, we loved relaxing by the pool and eating our lunch there. Excellent local restaurants for dinner and many interesting places to visit within easy reach, including the coast. A great getaway, in a lovely well-maintained home, with everything provided we could possibly need, including films to watch if we wanted to stay in. Perfect! We'll go again.
