Bargemon is the local friendly village, with its lovely squares, cafes, restaurants and fountains. There is a weekly (Thursdays) market day and festivals take place regularly – it is typically French. Village facilities include swimming pool and play area, museum, tourist office, supermarket, bakerie, butcher, newsagents, post office, bank, hotel, 7 restaurants, art galleries, antique shops, pottery, wine merchant. The villa itself is 3 km. from the village of Bargemon (2 km. walking by footpath), in a wooded area with views over the hills to the south. It is peaceful and secluded but not isolated and gives easy access to walks through the oak forests so typical of this area.

Additional information about rental rates

  • During high season, inclusive of weekly villa cleaning, laundered bed linen and towels (including pool towels) and twice weekly pool maintenance. The villa rental includes electricity, gas and water consumption in mid and high season.
    Between October 1st and April 30th, electricity consumption is charged according to metered usage. During the same period, wood for the wood burner in the salon is supplied at the property and is charged according to usage.
    Wireless broadband internet connection is freely provided as are all local phone calls.
  • Deposit of 25% required with booking. In the event of cancellation, deposit will be refunded if we are able to rebook villa for those dates. Refundable security deposit of 500 euro required to be paid with balance of rent 6 weeks before date of arrival.

Notes: 6 burner Smeg cooker with double electric ovens provides for any occasion. You can cook up a French culinary storm or merely boil an egg. The choice is yours. This is a great opportunity to use all that fresh local produce to perfection. Otherwise, you are spoilt for choice in the local restaurants - this is a holiday after all! Smoking is allowed outside the house using the covered ashtrays provided. Care should be taken in the summer to dispose of cigarettes safely.

The villa: The whole house is beautifully furnished throughout with a comfortable mix of antique and modern. Lovely fabrics and pictures complete the luxurious feeling of this unique home. A wonderful holiday for you and your family is assured. Full central heating and log burning fire also make this an ideal destination for those winter breaks. In the large dining kitchen, with doors opening onto the terrace, you will find the latest quality appliances including a professional Smeg 6 burner double oven cooker. The adjoining utility room with washer and dishwasher allows access to the cellar for a cool environment where your supply of local wines and cheese are kept to perfection. Meals can be taken on the well furnished shady terraces or in the cool of the beautiful salon. Also on the ground floor, there is a cloakroom with toilet and washbasin.

Local area: The house is just 75 minutes from Nice and Toulon airports. A journey of 30 minutes takes you to Lac St. Cassien, ideal for children with its beaches, pedalos and restaurants. Lac Ste. Croix and the spectacular Gorge du Verdon are 45 minutes drive. There you will find rafting, sailing, climbing or wonderful walks. The coastal beaches and resorts of Ste. Maxime and Frejus are reached in 40 minutes. Or simply explore the lovely local area with its forest walks and colourful villages. Visit a different market every day! In this area famous for its gastronomy, gourmet restaurants abound. In the winter, the slopes are reached within an hour where great skiing can be found - Gréolières. Further afield is Val D'Allos.

The most relaxation ever!

We have just returned from 2 of the most relaxing weeks we have ever had in this superb villa, close to the Provencal village of Bargemon.

We rarely ventured further than Bargemon, partly because of the heat and mostly because we didn't need or want to.

Villa Gascoigne has been carefully done out with great care and attention to detail. We really appreciated the overall balance achieved, with a mixture of high quality modern fittings in the ensuite bathrooms and kitchen and the traditional elegant French style that runs through the house. The combination meant that the villa was a very pleasant, relaxing place to be and had everything that we needed. As well as an elegant interior, pool, private garden and outdoor dining, the wifi and satellite TV filled the spaces in between for 3 teenagers, who can otherwise be a bit of a trial on holiday!

The house has a well equipped, spacious kitchen, complete with a huge Smeg range which meant that local Provencal produce was turned into wonderful meals with the smallest amount of effort. Regular markets in Bargemon and Callas and the local Corsican fresh pasta shop, which must be recommended, meant we were never short of vegetarian choices.

The time slipped by, with most days starting with a short run into
Bargemon for bread, fruit and something for supper. A long breakfast,
eaten as were all meals; outside, under the awning, was followed by a
sleep in the hammock and a dip in the pool. The day slipped into lunch and a siesta, swimming, reading and sleeping before our evening meal.

A measure of our enjoyment was that we spent most of the journey home talking about how and when we would return.

Autumn break at Villa near Bargemon

We were very impressed with the tasteful quality, cleanliness and comfort of this spacious villa.  The property is well-maintained, and set in a very peaceful and private location, with extensive grounds and a good size pool.  The quaint village of Bargemon is a convenient 5-minute drive away, and easily accessible on foot, once we found the right paths to follow. A car is essential for visiting attractions in the surrounding area, such as Fayence, St Maxime and St Tropez, local wineries and the Gorge du Verdon. With such a wide choice of fresh produce available at the local markets, we made good use of the villa's well-equipped kitchen and only occasionally ate out  at restaurants in surrounding towns during our week's stay. The owners provided a reliable and responsive service and we would definitely recommend this property to friends and family, and would happily return again ourselves.

We had recently a great two-week holiday in this beautiful villa. The description of the house was accurate and the facilities were as described on the www-pages. Three bathrooms were excellent for a group of seven. We enjoyed with two small children especially the pool area. Maintaining of the house was performed accurately and Theo and his wife were extremely helpful and nice persons. The only "surprise" was driving on the winding and narrow roads with a minibus in the surroundings of Bargemon. It took some extra energy and time. Also, people arriving later on saturday evening should take into consideration to have basic food and other supplies over the weekend because groceries and other shops are closed in Bargemon and in the other towns nearby. All to- gether, we had a fabulous holiday in the villa as well as Provence area. We are happy to recommend the villa also for other visitors.

We always take note of when people arrive at the villa as shops in Provence can be closed at different times to what people expect. If necessary, we can arrange supplies for late arrivals. The local village shop is well stocked and open daily but does close 12 midday Sunday until Monday morning.
The local scenery is stunning with views over the surrounding hills and valleys. It gives you the chance to drive through some of the most beautiful countryside in Provence, vast oak forests, perched villages, hills and vineyards. Take the opportunity to stop in a small and friendly medieval village for coffee or to explore the local vineyards on the Route Des Vins from Le Muy to Callas.

Excellent, very well appointed. House spotless. Quiet environment, beautiful trees. Very attractive, unspoilt villages within short driving distances.
Local, inexpensive restaurants friendly but food mediocre. But in neighboring villages Seillans and Fayences found very good restaurants particularly Les Deux Rocs.
Recommended without reservation.

Spacious, well maintained, property accurately described, with various areas outside to catch the sun or shade during the day. Sunny poolside nestles in the shelter of trees keeping the wind off. Cooking is no chore with the excellent kitchen facilities and various dining options inside and out. Beds very comfortable, bathrooms modern with excellent showers. Bargemon has good restaurants, pizza take-away, food and bakers shops. Other nearby towns also offer good facilities. Plenty of vineyard outlets with good wine. Well located for Grasse, also the coast and further afield. We are considering a return visit.
