Fayence:
With a population of around 4500, Fayence is big enough to have quite a few decent shops, restaurants and bars but manages to avoid the rather more frantic happenings down on the coast. It's more relaxed, friendlier and more authentically French. There's a Provencal market 3 days a week, local vineyards offering visits and tastings, regular concerts in the new exhibition hall or in the open air, and lots of nearby galleries, potteries and antique shops. In the valley below, the gliding centre is supposed to be the best in Europe and a good place for a drink or a meal. Even a trial flight. For the golfers the new Terre Blanche course across the valley aims to be one of the best in France and there are other courses nearby at Mandelieu and Cannes. Horse riding is available locally and there are tennis courts at the bottom of the hill for the really energetic. To find out more about the town, please ask us for web site link.
Ski:
Ski-ing is about an hour and a half away at Valberg, in the Alpes Maritime. It's a beautiful and authentic village, easy to get to and not too busy.
Golf:
We're not golfers but La Terre Blanche a few kilometers away is supposed to be one of the best courses in Europe. There are several other courses particularly nearer the coast.
