Further details for this holiday villa rental in Fayence, France

The Grounds : There are over an acre of peaceful grounds, including a large orchard, ideal for children to work off excess energy, and a poolside lawn. The property is surrounded by cypress hedge ensuring privacy and there is a lovely cypress lined driveway up to the villa. The Petit Mas has it's own separate driveway. Shady pines provide an ideal natural sunshade and the large poolside terrace is fully equipped with garden furniture and parasols. The large pool (11m x 5m), pool terrace and extensive private gardens are available for the enjoyment of all guests. The pool benefits from a thermal cover enabling swimming both early and late in the season. There are a number of shady eating areas for both villa and Petit Mas guests with outdoor dining tables and barbecues (charcoal for the villa and gas for the Petit Mas). The villa and grounds are South facing and enjoy maximum day long sunshine throughout the year.

The Local Area: The area where Seillans is located is known as the “Pays de Fayence”, Fayence being the largest local village, while the “département” is The Var, boasting some of the finest scenery Provence has to offer. The countryside is predominantly wooded hillsides dotted with picturesque, perched villages and interspersed with luxuriant valleys and deep gorges sparkling with fast flowing rivers and crystalline rock pools. The clear waters of nearby Lake St. Cassien are excellent for swimming. It is also famous for carp fishing and offers a range of watersports. Alternatively, you can take a trip into the Tanneron hills and enjoy marvellous views over the lake and the Esterel National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and spectacular peaks. There are numerous interesting nearby villages. Seillans and Bargemon have been voted “L’un des plus beaux villages de la France”, but in our view all the local villages are attractive and worth a visit in their own right.

The Cote d'Azur: The Cote d'Azur has been known since the early nineteenth century as Europe’s leading playground. As a holiday destination it is unsurpassed in the world, offering a beautiful stretch of coastline backed by the jagged peaks of the Alps, superbly maintained top class resorts, magnificent promenades and gardens, as well as a plethora of historic towns and ancient hilltop villages amid fabulous countryside, and all of this with an exceptional climate, cuisine and wine. The coastline is an ever-changing series of glimmering bays interspersed with rugged rocky peninsulas and dramatic cliffs falling straight into the sea. The coastal towns are renowned the world over. Cannes is a 40 minute drive from the villa, Nice just under an hour, St. Tropez an hour and a half. The impressive coast road from La Napoule to St. Raphael is full of dramatic scenery backed by the craggy mountains of the Esterel National Park and it is here you will find our nearest coastal beaches (30-40 minutes drive).

Other Activities: Gliding, canyoning, rowing, canoeing

A pleasant holiday retreat

L.A.N. East Sussex
Review Submitted: October 15, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We have just returned from our second visit to Villa Mas des Mimosas. The villa is ideally situated for those who want to stay in peaceful surroundings and be able to explore locally; or those who want to visit the busier coastal resorts. The pretty village of Seillans is a 10 minute walk with many others close by. The area is also well suited to those who enjoy walking.

The villa itself is very clean and well presented with all that you would need for a self-catering holiday. The surrounding gardens and terraced areas are beautifully maintained, with many different sitting out areas, together with a swimming pool that remains available for those visiting late in the season - we had perfect weather and were able to swim every day.

A real shame

J.E.B Midlands, U.K
Review Submitted: October 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Seillans is a quiet, beautiful and charming hill-top village.
The villa itself is a pretty, modest and peaceful get-away.
Obviously the property needs some level of maintenance during the stay but there was an inordinate length of time spent on this, particularly when over half of the land (to the front of the property) was completely unusable (an expanse of rubble and dry cracked earth). At points we were restricted to the outside dining area whilst general maintenance inside and outside the villa continued.
We also experienced problems with the showers; one stopped working for two days until we were informed of the need to change the settings, even then the power was poor. If the shower in the petit mas was in use, it was futile.
Advice for future patrons: take pictures of the furniture, fixtures, fittings and mats on arrival to prevent possible accusations of damage.
On a lighter note, it was the best weather we have had in the 10 years of being villa holiday-makers and we will be visiting this area of the South of France again! However we will definitely not be paying for the use of this villa again.
Owner's Response: The customers stayed at the property at the end of July and it had not rained since early in the season. Therefore the meadow was no longer green. Outside of peak summer, it is normally green and is planted with mature fruit and olive trees with lovely views over the surrounding hills behind the village. There is no rubble.

Garden maintenance, mainly pool cleaning and watering pots, takes place two mornings a week. This is intended to be for the benefit of the customers notably to ensure the pool stays clean and clear at all times. There is no indoor maintenance during customer stays, just the normal weekly clean and linen change, unless there has been a problem and it is required or requested.

The automatic watering systems were turned off when we arrived on the Saturday midway through the customers’ stay and again on the Tuesday. Consequently Ray stopped by on the final Thursday to check the pool levels and that the watering had not been turned off again (as it is essential for the lawn and garden).

On the Tuesday of their second week, the customers mentioned the problem with the shower pressure in the villa and we showed them the button on the side of the showerhead which changes the settings and the pressure. The ensuing water pressure was then very good and the customers agreed that there was no problem with it.

During the course of the stay, several rugs and one of the sofas were stained. The customers said that they had invited some friends round and their children had spilt tea. With a lot of effort and, not insignificant cost, we managed to clean everything except one of the rugs, for which we charged £9 (and of which we have a photo). Nothing else was charged for, even though the property also required over 8 hours of cleaning.

Excellent quiet retreat close to village

NorthernSky Garstang,Lancashire,England
Review Submitted: July 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Mas des Mimosas is a delightful villa set in its own spacious grounds close to the local picturesque village of Seillans. The whole property is well maintained to a very high standard with a superb secluded pool. The information packs at the villa are very useful in describing restaurants and paces to visit. We found the Verdon Gorge to be an easy drive to the North and the Cote D' Azur about an hour to the south. For those wishing to self cater there are two large supermarkets within a 20 minute drive from the property along with a smaller (but very useful one) 5 minutes away. If you want a villa that combines a more authentic Provence than busier 'tourist hotspots' then this is the ideal base.

A relaxing week

lexus 250 Belfast, N. Ireland
Review Submitted: July 7, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My wife and I stayed at Mas des Mimosas the third week in May 2009.
Directions provided were very concise as was the information pack in the villa which gave suggestions on places to visit and also details and experiences by the owners of eating in the local restaurants.
The villa itself is situated in a beautiful location, 10 minutes walk from Seillans and only a few minutes by car from several other pretty hill villages.
Furnishings and kitchen equipment were of a good quality as were the bed linens whilst the villa had been cleaned to a very high standard.
The terrace was very large and fully equiped with patio furniture and sun loungers and a very useful feature was the stone built barbecue complete with chimney.
The pool was superb and was obviously well maintained being surrounded by plants and shrubs. Very relaxing.
We hope to visit again and have recommended the property to friends and family.
