In its own 2 acre grounds on the edge of the village of Les Adrets de l'Esterel, the villa, built in 1995 in traditional Provencal style, is situated to enjoy an uninterrupted view down a valley overlooking Cannes, Antibes and the Isles de Lerin. A large terrace and an infinity pool offer the perfect setting for long summer days, while the evenings can be easily passed eating out on the terrace watching the twinkling lights of Cannes in the distance. The villa offers a high standard of accommodation for up to 8 people in four double bedrooms. Simply furnished and decorated, with terracotta floors throughout, it is a cool retreat in summer or a cosy haven in the winter months. The village of Les Adrets has a number of small shops and restaurants, while the coast with all its amenities is easily accessible within 10 minutes drive. There is fantastic walking in the Esterel mountains, and the nearest skiing is only an hour away. Nice airport is 35 minutes by auto-route.

Eating out.: There are a number of local restaurants in the village, from the excellnt Bouche A L'Orielle (Pizzas and Plats du Jour also; take away) to the Auberge de l'Esterel (fine dining in a beautiful Inn on the N7. La Napoule boasts the Oasis (Michelin 3 star) and many beach cafes and restaurants for the less than special occasions.

Sailing and boating.: Lac St Cassien has dingies and pedaloes for hire, as has the sailing school at La Napoule. Larger Yachts are advertised in the many marinas along the coast.

Other Activities: Lazing around reading books!

We are a family of four with two small children (aged 5 and 3). We stayed at Le Gros Jas in August with another family and had the best family holiday ever. Beautiful house with the feel of a proper family home, fabulous pool and very attentive service from Janine. Would highly recommend.

South of France villa

The villa lived up to our expectations and the photos did it justice. The view from the infinity pool was magnificent. We were 6 adults and 2 young children and found it child friendly. There was a temporary pool fence which could be used when the kids were around or removed when they weren't so we could enjoy the full view. The owners customer service was friendly and prompt. It was easy to oganise extras like pool heating or an extra cot. We enjoy cooking and it was a well equiped kitchen although the bbq was more challenging. It was a clean and comfortable villa with a great dvd collection and the master suite was lovely and spacious. I would recommend this for a place to stay with friends or family. The only disadvantage was you need a car to go anywhere apart from a short walk to the local bar. There are great supermarkets a short drive away and its location only 35 minutes from Nice airport made for an easy journey.
