Surrounding Area:
To the north are the amazing Gorges de Verdon and Lake Ste Croix.You can drive around the Gorge via the Routes des Cretes, you can visit the lake for swimming and walking. Hire pedaloes, canoes and kayaks and go deep into the gorge for more spectacular views.To the south is the Mediterranean Sea with its famous resorts, St Tropez, St Maxime, Frejus, St Raphael, and a little further east are Cannes, Nice, and Monaco. More locally there are many wine Domains where you can buy the local wine, many of them will let you sample a glass or two. In the Haut Var there are pretty villages for you to explore with their Provencal markets and interesting architecture.
Tourtour:
The villa is 3 km from Tourtour. One of the prettiest villages in France, known as the ' Village in the Sky ' famous for its panoramic views and beautiful sunsets.The village is lively in summer, with plenty of good restaurants, they vary from a creperie to those with a Michelin star, there is also a mini supermarket, boulangerie, 2 bars, art galleries and boutiques. The medieval part of the village as narrow passageways and charming little courtyards. The working olive mill, is used by local artists in the summer to exhibit their work, there is also a fossil museum.
Shopping:
The two nearest hypermarkets are at Draguignan and Trans en Provence. The old town of Draguignan is very interesting with its traditional shops including several chocolatiers for the chocoholics amongst you. Flayosc is halfway between Tourtour and Draguignan, this is a charming village and well worth a visit to sample it's traditional shops. There are markets at Aups, Lorgues, Salernes, Flayosc, Les Arcs and many more of the local villages including Tourtour. All the major coastal resorts, Toulon and Aix en Provence have excellent shops, selling designer labels as well as traditional merchandise from the area.
