Getting Here:
By Air:
Ryanair operate low-cost flights from Luton {daily), Liverpool and East Midlands to Nimes (Garons) just 1 1/4 hrs driving time from Malaucene. BA fly into Marseilles ( Marignane), a 11/2 hrs transfer by car, as do EasyJet who have a daily low-cost flight from Gatwick. In the summer months several operators fly into Avignon (45 mins) and Nice, a 3 hour drive. Hire Car companies operate from all four airports.
By Road:
A7 Autoroute du Soleil – exit Bollene or Orange Sud.
By Rail:
Nearest station Avignon for Eurostar and TGV.
Things to See and Do:
For walkers, cyclists and climbers the mountains of Le Ventoux, Les Dentelles and Les Baronnies provide endless paths and roads to explore, and wonderful panoramic views to experience. For the less energetic there are gentle valley roads and lanes, perched villages, Provencal markets every day of the week, the cote du Rhone wine trail, the Roman ruins and amphitheatres in Vaison-la-Romaine and Orange, the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the brocantes most weekends in Carpentras, river bathing in the Toulourenc and of course the soft sunny climate of this area of Provence means that local produce is bountiful - strawberries from Carpentras, melons from Cavaillon, truffles, cherries, apricots, garlic and olives, and last, but perhaps most importantly, the delicious local rose and red wines of the Ventoux and the prestigious vintages of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Beaumes de Venise are waiting to be discovered.
