This picturesque cottage nestles in a field of lavender and looks across vineyards and cherry orchards to the Medieval hilltop village of Saignon. It has a charming kitchen/dining/sitting room (well-equipped with full-size oven, 4-ring cook top, fridge, washing machine, central heating and lovely open fireplace), pretty bedroom with lovely view, bathroom with shower, a good selection of books, videos and music. Le Petit Cabanon Aux Lavandes: Le Petit Cabanon Aux Lavandes is a small stone cottage, fully restored, nestling in a field of lavender, facing the medieval hilltop village of Saignon and looking directly up to its splendid 12th century church. To the east are the rolling hills of the Luberon, offering fabulous walks. To the west are cherry orchards, vineyards and sunset over the village. The cottage is small but perfect. Downstairs: Kitchen/ dining / sitting room with washing machine, fridge, oven, cook top, TV, DVD player, radio-CD player, gas barbecue, pretty painted table and chairs and lovely fireplace. There's central heating, too, for winter comfort! Upstairs: Bedroom with double bed, en-suite bathroom with shower. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge. The cottage has its own telephone line, outdoor patio with garden furniture, parking area and BBQ.

Other Activities: French language courses, cookery courses, truffle hunting in winter.

Outstanding location but the cottage was tired

We stayed for a week at the beginning of June and the location was just beautiful. We were in the middle of a huge lavender field and surrounded by cherry orchards and vines. It is lovely and quiet and looks up the hill to the little village of Saignon.
No matter how charming the location the cottage is rather tired and that was a real shame. The roof leaked and we had to catch the water in a bucket.If there had been another night of rain we would have been less than pleased. We were informed by Joelle that it has done this for some time. The outside pergola had no shade at all, and this is needed very much. A broken parasol is just not enough. A couple of the photos on this listing aren't accurate. I have raised these points with owner but had no reply, again a shame.
The location allows the area to be explored very easily and the hilltop villages of Roussillon, Gordes. Bonnieux and St Saturin Les Apt are a must.

Our stay in the stone cottage

I have had a dream of going to France for quite a while and, when I found the little stone cottage on-line a few years ago, I knew I had to stay there. My husband and I recently returned from staying there for two weeks. It was everything that I had expected. The location is wonderful, surrounded by lavender, vineyards, and cherry trees. Even on the hottest days the breeze cools while sitting out on the patio. The charming cabanon is perfect for two people, comfortable, and has everything one would need. We were greeted by Joelle, (who looks after the property); she is a delight, and was willing to assist us in anyway we required. One of the beautiful views from the patio was the village of Saignon. We thoroughly enjoyed walking up to the village and having cafe' and croissants at Christine's. We had a thoroughly delightful meal at La Cave Gourmand; the waiter (possibly owner?) gave excellent service and was exceptionally friendly. The general area is wonderful for short excursions to beautiful little villages (Bonnieux, Roussillon, Gordes...) and the neighboring village of Apt has great shopping, food, and services (and charm). There are summer markets in many of the villages, with travel only 20-45 minutes away. All in all, a wonderful stay.
