• The rates given are based on four people sharing. There is an additional charge if five or six people occupy the house. (sofa bed downstairs). Rates include all bills, wonderful central heating, bedlinen, towels, and extra pool towels in season.

Les Lavandins: Provencal paradise!

Les Lavandins is the carefully restored farmhouse of an old lavender farm called Le Domaine de Claparèdes, set in ten hectares of beautiful countryside in the heart of Provence. To the south, twelve acres of lavender (in bloom from mid June until late July). To the west, the famous Mont Ventoux, whose chalky summit looks like snow all year round and is snow from November to March! To the north, the magnificent Luberon hills whose colour changes from purple to gold depending on the light. Les Lavandins has a private swimming pool in a walled garden, with the view of the century! Plenty of parking, unforgettable sunsets.

The village of Saignon

The unspoilt Medieval village of Saignon is perched on the top of a hill with a view across the valleys and mountains in every direction. It is steeped in history - you can visit the 12th century church, climb the ancient look-out point and tread the cobbled paths under clocktowers and arches. Lavender essence, home-made honey and goats cheese can be bought locally, and there are three restaurants (delicious!) Martine at the village post office will welcome your visit. Christine who runs the local bakery (open all year) sells the best bread in the Luberon and always has a cheerful smile (she speaks English, too!).

There's so much to do in Provence that one holiday is not enough... cycling, walking, canoeing down the clear fresh water of the river Sorgue, visits to ancient cathedrals and churches, famous towns such as Fontaine de Vaucluse (with its mysterious underground water source), Arles, St Rémy (Van Gogh's sanatorium and the most important archaeological site in France), Avignon (Palais des Papes and the famous bridge), Aix-en-Provence (where you can visit Cézanne's studio), the beautiful Provencal villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, Menerbes, Auribeau, Viens, St Martin de Castillon.... and some of the most enticing markets in the world.
