LUBERON, Saignon, Tastefully restored villa with pool

Our house is situated less than 5 minutes driving from Saignon in the Natural Park of the Luberon. We have bought it in June 2005 and have restored and redecorated it since then. There are 3 double bedrooms, 1 family bathroom and 1 en-suite shower room. The kitchen is completely new and is fully equipped. From the sitting room and from most of the bedrooms, the view on the mountain and the famous 'Mont Ventoux' is wonderful. The house is ideal for both relaxing and visiting the area. You have 2200m² of non enclosed garden, automatic sprinklers, Automatic gate and videophone, Parking The swimming pool (8x 4m) has got stair access and is secured by a cover. The water is treated with salt (to minimise chemicals allergy)

Saignon is perched at the top of a hill behind a large rock which dominates the valley. Saignon is a peaceful little village that you can explore by foot. Opposite the town hall you will see a very pretty 12th century Roman church. While walking through the narrow streets you will discover ancient fountains, picturesque shady squares and beautiful old houses with intricate doorways. Easy access to the rock of Saignon Do not hesitate to climb to the top of the rock where there is a fabulous panoramic view of the plains and the Luberon mountain range. If the weather is fine, you can see Mont Ventoux, the Lure mountain, the Alpes de Haute Provence and even the heights of Avignon! Thanks to its rock, Saignon played a key defensive role for the town of Apt, attacked through the centuries by numerous invasions... although not yet by tourists! Saignon is still relatively unknown so you can appreciate the beauty of the countryside and discover delightful walking trails in the surroundings.

About Saignon

Saignon (population 1045) is still relatively unspoilt and less touristy than the other villages (most of the neighbours are year round residents), has a very friendly and lively atmosphere. The Coustellet farmer's market on Sunday mornings is my favourite; fresh fruit and veggies, wine (and wine tasting!), cheeses, dried hams and sausages, olives and olive oil... All the best goodies of Provence can be found there! The markets in Apt and L'Isle sur la Sorgue are not to be missed either!

The village and the surrounding area, rich in history, invite to unlimited discoveries and, especially during the summer, there are all kinds of cultural events and festivals, big and small, in Saignon and the neighbouring villages and towns; music, theatre, opera, art exhibitions, cinema, jazz. The theatre festival in Avignon, the piano festival in La Roque d'Antheron and the opera festivals in Orange and Aix-en-Provence are all internationally acclaimed.

I cannot believe how wonderful the week we spent at this house was. Situated between Apt and Saignon, it was a perfect place to take day trips to towns in the area. The house could not have been nicer, cleaner, or more well equipped. I am a cook, and I couldn't have wanted for anything in the kitchen. The bathrooms were brand new, and the whole house made us feel at home! I almost don't want to write this review, however, as we don't want it to be booked the next time we want to go!
