The Luberon is a magical region of Provence. The scenic countryside of vineyards, sunflowers, and lavender fields is dotted with perched medieval stone villages. Part of the allure is the marché (market) and every village has one that is distinctive. Fresh fruits and vegetables abound as well as gorgeous cheeses and salamis. There are baskets filled with spices and colorful baskets to buy. The pattern and colors of the fabrics are lovely and the scented soaps are wonderful.

Medieval memories...

InLoveWithTravel Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
Review Submitted: July 6, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Our week-long stay in Bonnieux provided the perfect opportunity to experience Provence and the flavor of living in a medieval village (with better plumbing). Bonnieux is lively, but not over-commercialized. And our local home was nice to return to at the end of a long day of driving and touring. Never had a problem parking nearby. We loved our croissant breakfasts in the dining room overlooking the forest, drinks on the terrace, and scouted out many restaurants in the village for evening dinners. The rental is well-maintained and as advertised online. Location of the bathroom on the 4th level should be considered carefully for less "able" individuals. Owner is pleasant to work with and all communications were timely and informative. We would definitely recommend this venue to others seeking a temporary home in Provence.

Beautiful Bonnieux

Review Submitted: May 6, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We loved staying in Bonnieux and the house was absolutely perfect for our needs. There are a lot of stairs...but we didn't mind...just meant we could eat more fabulous French food with less guilt. The beds were comfortable, the house spotless when we arrived, the kitchen adequately furnished, the views exquisite. The owner was easy to work with and responded to all questions promptly and with charm.

We loved Bonnieux itself. It has not been as overly gentrified as some of the other hilltowns...at least in my humble opinion. It still retains its medieval flavor. yet has all the benefits of modern day life.

We spent two weeks exploring the surrounding area and loved every minute. Gorgeous scenery, hiking, oodles of history, amazing food and wine, art... everything you could want within an hours drive in all directions.

I would highly recommend Bonnieux and this rental to anyone who enjoys any of the above,

A little bit of heaven

Bonnieux is a lovely hilltop town in the beautiful Luberon mountains of Provence and staying right in town was such a treat. Our home away from home was a lovely 2 bedroom 4 story abode with a great kitchen and comfortable accomodations.

My husband and I walked every morning to the bakery to enjoy a croissant amandes and then drove to a different area every day to enjoy the beauty and wonders of Provence.

Lourmarin was our favorite small town with it's cobblestone streets, lovely restaurants and shops and beautiful chateau. Oppede la vieux was another favorite with it's medevial ruins and lovely small village. Both towns were only 10- 15 miles away.

We planned our days visiting the market towns of Gordes, Coustellat and St. Remy amoung others, bringing home treats for dinner to enjoy in our lovely home.

Eating out a few nights proved to be a wonderful experience and our favorite restaurants in Bonnieux were Il Fornil and Arome, 2 elegant and lovely restaurants serving fresh Provencal dishes.

Every day was a new adventure and the experience was truly a bit of heaven.
