About Goult::
Goult (population 1200) is still relatively unspoilt and less touristy than the other villages (most of the neighbours are year round residents), has a very friendly and lively atmosphere and plenty of shops and restaurants, all within a couple of minutes walk from the house; a well stocked grocery store, two butcher shops, a bakery, a post office, four restaurants, and the famous (almost) Café de la Poste, where lunch is served out doors in the summer and where you can find english language newspapers, order a café au lait in the morning and do some people watching. So if you feel like staying put there is no need to get into the car. A few of the open air markets is a must though. The Coustellet farmer's market on Sunday mornings is my favourite; fresh fruit and veggies, wine (and wine tasting!), cheeses, dried hams and sausages, olives and olive oil... All the best goodies of Provence can be found there! The markets in Apt and L'Isle sur la Sorgue are not to be missed either!
More about Goult and the area::
The village and the surrounding area, rich in history, invite to unlimited discoveries and, especially during the summer, there are all kinds of cultural events and festivals, big and small, in Goult and the neighbouring villages and towns; music, theatre, opera, art exhibitions, cinema, jazz... Find out all about it at the tourist information, 'La maison de Village', in the main square. The theatre festival in Avignon, the piano festival in La Roque d'Antheron and the opera festivals in Orange and Aix-en-Provence are all internationally acclaimed.
Also worth mentioning are Goult's two communal tennis courts a five minute walk from the house.
