About the region
This is an ideal base to explore the region. Numerous day trips are available which will allow the visitor to discover Provence. Les Baux de Provence is a beautiful Provençal village built on a large rocky outcrop offering a stupendous view over a large plain and the Alpilles mountain range. Also worth visiting are St-Rémy-de-Provence, a painters' village renowned for its antique stores, and the old quarter of Aix-en-Provence, where one can visit the cathedral of St-Saveur and the studio of the painter Paul Cézanne. Nîmes is also nearby with its Roman arena and many ancient ruins.
Sites of interest:
To the north is the city of Avignon, once home to the medieval papacy, which still has the spectacular Papal Palace, and the famous bridge of St-Bénézet immortalized in the song Sur le pont d'Avignon. The wine roads are a must-see in a region made famous by Châteauneuf-du-Pape and numerous other Côtes-du-Rhône villages. Lourmarin is an hour from the Mediterranean sea, and among the attractions are the fishing village of Cassis, and the city of Marseille (with boats to the islands of Lerins and Château d'If). Nearby is the Camargue National Park, a great location for bird-watchers and nature lovers. The Riviera and the cities of Nice and Cannes are only two hours away.
Other Activities Rock Climbing, Miniature golf, weekly provencal market, restaurants, art galleries, Museums, Festival of music in July&Aug.
Golf Information:
Provence Country Club The Provence Country Club course is situated on an exceptional site, formed by the foothills of Vaucluse, Luberon and Alpilles, in the middle of a magnificent typically Mediterranean vegetation. Due to its reliefs, its fairways and its water obstacles, it is a technical and difficult course. (33) 04 90 20 20 65 Golf de Pont-Royal Magnificent 18 hole course designed by Ballesteros. It benefits from an impeccable maintenance. With rather wide bunkers, big trees, different water obstacles and a rather a chaotic relief, the whole under the constant influence of the wind, Royal Bridge asks for strategy and technique. It imposes to know well how to choose its clubs, what will be more difficult for novice players. Certain holes with very irregular drawing have to be negotiate before being approached. (33) 0490343404 Golf Avignon Grand Beautiful 18 hole course situated in a quiet environment. At first sight it seems relatively easy because the ground is totally flat, nevertheless numerous holes are rather narrow and ask for a good technique and quite a lot of precision. Neither easy, nor difficult either, it is accessible to a big number of players. Besides that it is very well maintained and where it is good to play, with the family or between friends. We have enjoyed a glorious week in your lovely home and in Lourmarin. Your home is most comfortable, and Lourmarin is a gem of a village; we think its the most charming and prettiest of them all. Wherever we visited during the day, we were always happy to return home to Les Magnarelles.

We made some great tours all around, and it was very nice to come back to the villa every evening, and feel at home. The villa is a '10' - well furnished, spacious, and full of sunlight. We enjoyed it very much.

We enjoyed our evenings in front of the fire - and what a fireplace it is! Once again many thanks.
