A Month in Provence
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009
Date of Stay: May 2009
We rented this charming house for the month of June, 2009, making it our home in the beautiful countryside of Provence. The house is very comfortable, clean, well-maintained, beautifully landscaped, and the views are breathtaking. The bedroom configuration only lends itself to small children (in bunk beds) in addition to two adults. In our case, for two adults with no children, it was absolutely perfect. The bathroom downstairs which services that small bedroom has no toilet. The toilet is in the small powder room in a nearby hallway. It is imperative to rent a car while there. We used this home as our center, making day trips which totaled almost 2,000 miles during the month! Methamis is very small and non-commercial but convenient to many other neighboring picturesque villages, markets, and highways leading to the larger cities of Provence. I cooked almost every day from fresh produce gleaned from local farmers at their Market Days. The owners were most helpful to provide answers to our questions and give us helpful advice. Their home is filled with travel books and maps making planning a delight. The internet connection and free calls to the states made us feel “connected” as we lost ourselves in the pastoral French countryside. Our biggest problem was having to leave!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much, Billie for your review of our home. Just one note for readers, we have recently changed the second bedroom to have two twin beds in lieu of bunks. This configuration will now comfortably suit two couples, or four adults, along with two small children (sleeping six easily.) The downstairs bath has a shower, sink and bidet. The powder room for this bedroom is located just outside the bedroom door.
It's great to see that you really took advantage of exploring the vast region of Provence. It's true that there are so many wonderful things to see and do in the area. Whether one chooses to sit by the pool-side and read while enjoying the views and listening to the fountain, or head off to markets, the Mediterranean Sea, visit Roman Ruins, or castles, there is never a shortage of ideas on how to spend your time while in Provence! Glad the maps and guide books came in handy!
I also want to add your direct comments from several of your emails that you sent us during your stay, which are as follows:
"Seth, we are delighted to be here, and are having a wonderful time with perfect weather. We have enjoyed your home so very much! It was comfortable for the two of us, conveniently located, and I want to remember the view always! Please know how much we love your home and appreciate your many kindnesses. I want to keep in touch with you and Karen! We love the Methamis area, your home, and Provence! Thrilled we made the connection to come here!"
"This has been one of the most wonderful months of my life!"
Thank you, Billie, for your very kind words. We are pleased that you enjoyed you stay, and we look forward to our future correspondence and your return!
