Further details for this holiday villa rental in Methamis, France

Private, gated pool: We offer our guests a private 10 X 5 meter swimming pool, amongst a landscaped yard, and a terraced patio. Comfortable deck furniture, handsome parasols for shade, and a spectacular view of vineyards, cherry groves and rolling hills all enhance your pleasure in swimming and enjoying the pool environment. A large teak picnic table for outdoor meals and picnics is also available on the patio, overlooking the pool, terrace and views. We consider the 'poolside' as an extension of our house, and as such, find that it is one of the very nicest features of this property.

Methamis: Methamis is one of the five 'perched' villages in the Comtat Venaissin region, and thus considered a major site of interest and beauty in the Vaucluse region. Yet despite it's rugged beauty, it remains a sleepy village nestled amongst numerous large vineyards and rolling hills. Our house, sitting along the Gorge de la Nesque, has the advantage of being at the end of a quiet street, in the midst of the rural countryside, and yet just a short walk into the authentic village of Methamis. In the quiet village of Methamis, you will find a post office, church, cafe, school, provisional store for groceries, and an evening pizza stand. The views from this village are spectacular, with multiple walks and paths to explore.

Activities for everyone!: Whether you would like to sit by the pool with a good book, enjoying the surrounding beauty, or experience some of the best biking and hiking in Europe, there is something for everyone just outside our front door, and here in Provence.

Other Activities: Completely renovated home with private 10 X 5 meter pool, with landscaped terrace and patio.

Perfect for comfort, quiet

P. O. Richmond, VA
Review Submitted: January 19, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
This was our first trip to Provence last September and this property is all it is described as and even more. The furnishings are extremely comfortable, great lighting (hard to find in Europe) and screens on the windows (also rare). The kitchen had all modern cons. But the really wonderful feature is the ability to be private. We were 4 and there were many nooks and crannies (read terraces, sun-room, poolside) where we could doze, read, be alone. There were actually 3 places to dine -- dining room, poolside (big old fashioned table) or overlooking the vineyards. Dinner by the lighted pool, overlooking the vineyards, as the sun set, sustains us in the gloomy days of winter. Perfection.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at our home and we hope that you will be back for a visit again soon.

September in Provence

Trenton Macungie, PA, USA
Review Submitted: October 3, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My wife and I just returned to the United States after having spent the month of September 2009 at this property. Our stay was delightful! All of our expectations and hopes were met and/or exceeded. The property is very well maintained, clean and well equipped. For travelers like us who like to shop in local markets for fresh produce, fish, meat and poultry and then cook and eat in, opportunities abound. Nearby towns like St. Didier and Pernes les Fountaines have weekly markets. Ask at an Office de Tourisme for the pamphlet Les Marches en Provence to get more details. And don't miss the Sunday market, antiques bazaar and all day flea market at L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Les Halles in Avignon is a delight. Nearby Methamis--walking distance-- and Mormoiron--short drive--have small grocery stores. Pernes les Fountaines has a supermarket. Wine can be gotten easily in grocery stores or directly from numerous local producers who offer tastings and sales. The kitchen supports straightforward cooking with an electric stovetop and oven, a microwave oven and basic fry pans, pots and cooking utensils. A gas grill is available for outside grilling.
More serious wine interests can be indulged in nearby Chateauneuf-du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueras, and the many wine villages of the Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon regions. All offer numerous tasting and wine buying opportunities.
For travelers who like to explore, this property is well located. The setting is rural so evenings and rest days can be spent in a quiet, private environment, relaxing by the pool or reading a book on the terrace. But large cities--Marseille, Nimes--as well as some smaller cities--Aix en Provence, Avignon, Orange--and numerous small villages are all reachable for day trips. Historical and cultural sites from Roman times to the present day are all around. A car is essential; good maps and attention to the local geography are important.
We prefer to travel internationally with a minimum of baggage--just what we can carry aboard a plane. So laundry facilities are important to us. This property has both a washing machine and dryer for the minimalist traveler.
Though we enjoy traveling we still like to stay in touch with friends and family at home. This property offers a high speed internet connection for web browsing and e-mail. So bring along your portable laptop. Wireless or cable connection are both available.

A Month in Provence

B. and A. Birmingham, Alabama, USA
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We rented this charming house for the month of June, 2009, making it our home in the beautiful countryside of Provence. The house is very comfortable, clean, well-maintained, beautifully landscaped, and the views are breathtaking. The bedroom configuration only lends itself to small children (in bunk beds) in addition to two adults. In our case, for two adults with no children, it was absolutely perfect. The bathroom downstairs which services that small bedroom has no toilet. The toilet is in the small powder room in a nearby hallway. It is imperative to rent a car while there. We used this home as our center, making day trips which totaled almost 2,000 miles during the month! Methamis is very small and non-commercial but convenient to many other neighboring picturesque villages, markets, and highways leading to the larger cities of Provence. I cooked almost every day from fresh produce gleaned from local farmers at their Market Days. The owners were most helpful to provide answers to our questions and give us helpful advice. Their home is filled with travel books and maps making planning a delight. The internet connection and free calls to the states made us feel “connected” as we lost ourselves in the pastoral French countryside. Our biggest problem was having to leave!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much, Billie for your review of our home. Just one note for readers, we have recently changed the second bedroom to have two twin beds in lieu of bunks. This configuration will now comfortably suit two couples, or four adults, along with two small children (sleeping six easily.) The downstairs bath has a shower, sink and bidet. The powder room for this bedroom is located just outside the bedroom door.

It's great to see that you really took advantage of exploring the vast region of Provence. It's true that there are so many wonderful things to see and do in the area. Whether one chooses to sit by the pool-side and read while enjoying the views and listening to the fountain, or head off to markets, the Mediterranean Sea, visit Roman Ruins, or castles, there is never a shortage of ideas on how to spend your time while in Provence! Glad the maps and guide books came in handy!

I also want to add your direct comments from several of your emails that you sent us during your stay, which are as follows:
"Seth, we are delighted to be here, and are having a wonderful time with perfect weather. We have enjoyed your home so very much! It was comfortable for the two of us, conveniently located, and I want to remember the view always! Please know how much we love your home and appreciate your many kindnesses. I want to keep in touch with you and Karen! We love the Methamis area, your home, and Provence! Thrilled we made the connection to come here!"

"This has been one of the most wonderful months of my life!"

Thank you, Billie, for your very kind words. We are pleased that you enjoyed you stay, and we look forward to our future correspondence and your return!

Methamis Rental

A very satisfied vacationer Apple Valley, MN USA
Review Submitted: June 16, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
My wife and I found the property to be as described, only more so. It has been beautifully and expertly restored. The house, the landscaping, and the pool were maintained spotlessly and the overall design and equipage was very friendly to US tastes. The view from the home is picture perfect; a postcard of Provence complete with vineyards, olive groves and flowers in bloom. We have rented several homes in Provence and Tuscany and this was by far our favorite. We definitely hope to return, but for a longer stay.

Dear Seth and Karen,
As you can imagine, reentry crisis has set in, mostly due to withdrawal from Marco at the cafe over double cafe creme, morning pool laps, afternoon excursions through vineyards to perched villages, leisurely multi-course dinners, midnight poolside conversations finishing bottles of local wines. We found your charming home in Provence to be such a wonderful, comfortable setting in which to relax and also learn more about the area, and a perfect base from which to explore the region. We followed your excursion recommendations, which offered us a marvelous variety of tiny, perched villages and larger, more upscale towns. The four of us will especially remember Venasque (which we visited frequently) and Le Crestet, and our trip to Aix-en-Provence. We wanted to let you know, as life again grasps ahold of us, this was very high on our list of our best vacations ever. Merci beaucoup!
