Delightful apartment in Provencal Chateau
The comfortable, spacious apartment on the 1st floor of a 17c Provencal chateau has wonderful views to the south and west. It is well equipped for 4 adults with plenty of space to relax with a glass of wine before you venture out to sample the numerous local restaurants. If you have not been able to resist buying any of the mouth watering array of produce in the local markets the kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher to allow you to prepare a meal. For those lazy evenings there are comfortable squashy sofas to relax into, to listen to music, watch a DVD or to read a book. Garden furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue are provided for you to use, in the grounds where there is space for quiet privacy or where you can relax on the terrace by the pool with other owners or guests. For the energetic there is a swimming pool, and tennis and boule courts.

Set amongst beautiful lavender fields St Laurent du Verdon is a typically picture postcard Provencal village of small stone houses with red tiled roofs. A few minutes drive away is Lac St Croix where you can sail, windsurf or just picnic by the lakeside. Across the lake is the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon with spectacular views, famous walking routes and, for the brave, rockclimbing or bungee jumping. Kayaking and white water rafting is also available further through the canyon. Around 10km away are the medieval market towns of Aups and Riez where twice weekly markets are held with an abundance of locally produced food. The nearest airports, Marseilles or Nice, are a couple of hours drive away as are the beaches of St Tropez. The cultural centre of Aix en Provence is within 1 hours drive. The village has a small restaurant, normally open from May to October and can supply take-away pizzas. The village shop also provides a breakfast service of fresh coffee and croissants.

Notes to the rental rates

Rental rates shown in the table are for two people. For parties of 3 or 4 people an additional one off charge of £40.00 per week will also be requested.
Rental rates are inclusive of linen, indoor towels (please bring your own beach/pool towels), heating and cleaning on departure. A deposit of 25% is payable when a booking is made with the balance due 4 weeks before the start of the rental period. A deposit against breakages of £100 is also payable with the final payment.
For rentals of two or more weeks you may like to have the apartment cleaned or the bed linen and towels replaced. If so please mention this when booking as a small additional charge will be payable locally. The apartment keys will normally be sent to you 2 weeks before the rental start date, if you need them earlier than this please let me know as soon as possible.

Places to visit.
For days out we would recommend the markets in Forcalquier and Aix en Provence which can be combined with visits to local places of interest. A day on the beach or celebrity spotting around the harbour at St Tropez is a must if you haven't visited there before. Marseilles has a range of markets, designer shops and wonderful sea food restaurants and you can take a ferry ride to the island of Chateau D'If. The Sunday antique market at Isle sur le Sorgues, near to Avignon, is popular with both serious and amateur collectors. Moustiers St Marie at the entrance to the Grand Canyon is also worth the 30 minute drive to visit.
Activities
For the energetic we leave tennis raquets and balls and a set of boules in the apartment for you to use. The swimming pool is cleaned daily by the resident caretaker, Denys, who is also responsible for the maintenance of the garden areas. The swimming pool, boule court and patio area have lighting for the evenings. For safety reasons children are only allowed in the pool area if supervised by an adult.
