Stunning golf villa with pool in the heart of Provence

We stayed at the villa for the first week of September 2009 and had a lovely holiday with our four small boys. Before we went, Luke, the owner was really helpful, replying to emails promptly and sending lots of information about the area.

The arrival process was smooth and there was even a generous and thoughtful food hamper waiting for us, which was really welcome after a long car journey.

The villa was spacious and immaculate and the furnishings are comfortable and practical. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. There are lots of toys and even a travel cot available, which makes travelling with young children much easier as you don't have to bring it all with you.

There is a private pool on a lower terrace in the garden which our boys spent the entire time playing in. One day the filter blocked with pine needles, but it was fixed immediately after a call to the on site manager. The only thing to note is that the view of the pool is obscured by lots of plants, so you have to sit beside the pool, not on the terrace to keep an eye on your children as they swim.

Pont Royal is part of a charming complex, built in traditional Provencal style, around a golf course. It is in a really pretty setting and you can easily walk to the restaurants and shops at the nearby P&V village. The shops are pretty well stocked, although there are several supermarkets nearby (we were given the useful tip that the Simply in Senas has the least French opening hours).

We only ate out once, using the barbeque at the villa for the rest of the time, but the restaurant La Farigoule recommended by Luke, was great. Perfect for the children.

We had a lovely holiday and were impressed by the villa and the Pont Royal Domaine. It's an easy drive to lots of pretty Provencal towns and villages, and there is plenty to do outside the village, but if you want a relaxed time there is no reason to leave.
