Situated on the border between the departments of the Var and Bouches du Rhône - just a few kilometres from the sea -Ceyreste is a picturesque village There are unusual “cabarottes” - covered passages which span the shady, winding streets and a Roman fountain in front of which there is a heavy stone trough - formerly the church font. The fortified church dates from the Middle Ages and is listed as a historic monument and in the choir there is a lovely copy of the Raphaël “Transfiguration”. Ceyreste is totally noncommercial and unspoilt with few tourists and with local shops for everyday needs and also a good restaurant and a café-bar. The coast is only 5 minutes or so drive away – with the lively resort of La Ciotat only 5km from Ceyreste - with lots of restaurants and fine sandy beaches the nearest. To the west a drive of 10-20 minutes offers a further choice of family resorts – Les Lecques, Bandol or Sanary and Le Castellet.

The village
Ceyreste is a picturesque village which was established during the barbarian invasions by the inhabitants of La Ciotat down on the coast as a refuge inland. Ceyreste has preserved part of its surrounding walls and the fortified gates, as well as several 17th-century houses which give the village a great deal of charm. There are unusual “cabarottes” - covered passages which span the shady, winding streets & a Roman fountain in front of which there is a heavy stone trough - formerly the church font. The fortified church dates from the Middle Ages and is listed as a historic monument and in the choir there is a lovely copy of the Raphaël “Transfiguration”. In addition to the daily open local shops in Ceyreste there is a weekly market on Friday mornings & every day of the week a different provençal market is within a short drive at one of the neighbouring villages.
