The villa is in the heart of Provence’s wine growing region and surrounded by vineyards offering cheap but good quality wines. Lourmarin (14 restaurants), one of the most beautiful villages in France, is only 10 miles away. Whilst the other beautiful villages of Provence, made even more famous by Peter Mayle, Menerbes, Bonnieux and Lacoste, as well as Gordes, Roussillon and Ansouis, are all within 10-25 miles. Avignon (TGV), Marseille Airport, Aix-en-Provence and Arles are all within an easy 45 minutes drive. Less than 10 minutes from the ‘Route de Soleil’, Senas (exit 26), the villa is an 8-9 hour drive from Calais. It is ideally situated, on fast, traffic-free roads for visiting everything you would want to see in Provence. Easy access to the Auto-route also makes the Cote d’Azur readily accessible. Cannes, Nice, Monte Carlo and St. Tropez are all within 2-3 hours drive via the motorway.
Beautiful walks and cycle rides exist both on the domaine and also nearby. The top of the Luberon, the GR97 footpath, which crests it, with its outstanding views, and the Gorge du Regalon are only some 6 miles away. Silvacane Abbey (Cistercian), one of the ‘three sisters’ of Provence is only 5 miles away.
A separate charge of approx. 35euros per person per week is payable to Pierre et Vacances for the use of the communal, swimming pools. Tennis and basketball facilities whilst pony trekking and many other activities are available at additional cost. (Please note access to communal Pierre et Vacances pools may be restricted in July & August.)
The beaches of the Cote d’Azur, the Gorges du Verdon (Europe’s Grand Canyon), the Camargue, the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas, together with the Roman ruins in Orange, Arles, Nimes, Avignon and the Pont du Gard can all be visited in leisurely day trips.
Golf:
The villa is on one of the top golf Courses in France (rated 16/20 in the Peugeot Guide of Top 1000 Golf Courses in Europe), Seve Ballesteros designed.
Always immaculately maintained the Pont Royal course and location offers wonderful golfing throughout the year. The villa is only 5 mins walk to the driving range, clubhouse & 1st tee as well as bars and restaurants. Another 10 golf courses, mostly excellent, are within an hours drive through some of the most beautiful countryside in France.
