It is within a wooded, secluded and spacious property (30,000 square meters), perched on top of a hill, that offers stunning views on the surrounding countryside, and the St Victoire mountain painted by Paul Cezanne many times. And to complete the picture, let's add that the house is built alongside the ruins of a medieval castle.

This house in Meyreuil, where we spent our holidays this summer, is one of the most beautiful places we ever had ! We enjoyed our staying so much ! It´s realy an extraordinary and comfortable place for relaxing and to collect new inspiration and power ! We loved the fantastic atmosphere around the house and inside , swimming in the pool and sitting in the beautiful garden with ist different areas .The furnishings are very imaginative and full of astonishing details . We can recommend this place for you and all your friends very much !

a joyful reunion of old friends

This villa proved to be perfect for a reunion of old friends (3 couples). We each had our private space (bedroom and bathroom) and there were so many different common spaces to choose from when getting together for a drink or a meal. The whole villa and property are utterly charming and well maintained. I liked the decor and found all the rooms warm and inviting. I would have liked to stay for a second week. There is lots to explore, and I felt like a child again. I can only imagine how children would adore this place.

So why not a 5-star rating? First, the villa is a bit difficult to get to; it is a real pain to go up and down the hill for the short distance into town, and the driveway reminded me of some descriptions by Peter Mayle of what happens to dirt roads in Provence. Also, arriving on a weekend and not having things like toilet paper and coffee filters was a bit disappointing. Finally for all the magnificent views (and they are magnificent) from the house, one cannot ignore the big power plant in the valley below.
Still, I would go back. We loved AIx, and we loved Provence, and the villa felt like home very quickly.
Special tip: dinner in Le Tholonet- romantic and delicious; climb up the hill behind the house for a sunset; Friday afternoon on the back porch sipping wine and listening to the sounds from the valley below.

Our trip to the Provence

We had such a terrific time on our recent family vacation. Vieille Eglise was absolutely stunning. I wish we had been able to stay longer. We could have skipped the day trips and spent more time at the house exploring. Looking at Mt. Victoire for sunrise, and walking up the ruins from the patio were highlights. Each bedroom is so comfortable and unique, my 2 year old loved exploring inside and out. If you have the chance to meet them when they are in town, Phillipe and Adeline (and Patty) are warm and welcoming.

The hosue is in a great location, it's so easy to get to different places, and also very close to Aix's city center, the TGV and airport. Thank you for making our trip so memorable and for opening up your home.

Magic at Meyreuil

Our stay in the villa at Meyreuil was magical and we wished it could have been longer. We were lucky enough to meet the owners, Mr and Mme Granier on arrival and immediately felt at home. The villa is magnificent, gloriously and tastefully furnished and with every comfort. A highlight is the many beautiful paintings by Mme Granier throughout. Breakfast in the morning on the terrace overlooking the valley was a delight. Perhaps our greatest pleasure, however, was discovering that on mounting the hill above the villa one looks towards the incomparable view made so famous by Cezanne, le Mont St Victoire in all its splendour.
