These three cities are the toast of the French Riviera. Between them, they have made this part of the Cote d’Azur the favourite destination for the rich and famous for over a century. Cannes, known globally for the Cannes Film Festival in May, has long been a site of glamorous lifestyles, luxury accommodation and stunning scenery. Grasse, an old 17th century town, is situated high on a terrace overlooking the coast and Cannes below it. It is the perfume capital of France, and is an extremely wealthy town. Finally, Antibes completes the triangle. Boasting 25km of coastline, and numerous bars, Antibes is the party centre on the French Riviera.

Things to do on holiday in Cannes, Grasse or Antibes, France

The view from Haute Ville (city on high) in Cannes is a spectacular panorama, well worth the climb up Mont Chevalier. It will also allow you to spot the sights of the area and gain your bearings. The rue Meynadier is bustling day and night, filled with shops and bars. When on holiday in Cannes, checking the listings for the Palais des Festivals is essential, as it hosts all sorts of festivals, conventions, concerts, theatre and dance, as well as housing four casinos!

Grasse, the world’s perfume capital is also famous for its museums, and the architectural treasures of the old town. Antibes is similar in this respect, but have the added resources of the Cap d’Antibes, with its many sandy beaches, which become very popular in August and July.

Places to holiday in Cannes, Grasse and Antibes

Golfe Juan is a small town on the Bay of Cannes, and has two large sandy beaches and marinas for yachts touring the coast. Another affordable yet top of the range resort in the area is Mandelieu La Napoule, which is steeped in natural heritage. The walking and mountain biking is great, providing sensational views of the coast. The sailing is also unrivalled, and the resort is close to enough golf courses to keep you happy on holiday in this area!

Mougins is a gem on the Cote d’Azur. A medieval village 15 minutes from Cannes, Mougins is surrounded by forests, and has a very high environmental quality with flowers and trees all over the village. Luxury villas and self-catering villas are around the village, all offering superb views of the coastline from their vantage point 260 meters above sea level. Luxury villas are also abundant in Valbonne, a neat, symmetrical village centred around the 16th Century Place des Arcades.

Theoule-sur-Mer is set slightly away from the main tourist areas in the region. Strict development controls have kept the village in its original striking form, set on red rock cliffs overlooking the coast and mountains, with holiday accommodation nestled between the rocks.
