Le Roudier is a fantastically restored farm complex consisting of 4 Gites all based around the large 14 x 8m heated pool and large terrace with panoramic views of the wonderful Dordogne countryside. The 300 year old stone buildings have been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard yet they retain all of their original charm. All Gites are fully equipped and have satellite TV and DVD players as standard. The buildings are surrounded by 16 acres of gardens which are an ideal and safe area for children to play and explore. The games room with TV screen and table tennis offers a cool retreat in the mid-day heat and being next to the pool it provides an excellent space for communal events. These beautifully restored stone buildings each sleep 8 with easy. Their roomy living areas/ lounges with satellite TV and DVD provides an ideal cool retreat when the sun gets too much. The patio and terrace with shady pergola allows outside dining beneath the wisteria and vines even in the mid-day heat. The patio furniture and gas BBQ encourage alfresco living and being next to the large roman ended pool one doesn't have to move far to relax on the loungers and take in the breathtaking panoramic views. Each gite is fully equipped with everything you may need to give a real home from home feeling. Cots, high chairs and stair gates come as standard and the use of the games area and bikes should keep you suitably occupied. Various local walks and places of interest can be started from Le Roudier or you may chose just to relax in the 16 acres of gardens which surround the property.

Deep in rural France, Le Roudier is set in one of the finest food and wine regions of the world. The vineyards and local cuisine are second to none and the historic chateaux and bastide towns allow visitors to truly immerse them selves in the rich character that this region offers. Of course there are many other activities locally from canoeing on the Dordogne river to Horse riding, Golf, Mountain biking and a host more. The Dordogne valley, only 15 minutes from Le Roudier, has a wealth of interesting history dating back to Neolithic villages and wall paintings most which are open to the public. For those of you who are looking for a more relaxing holiday, the country walks and local markets provide an excellent platform to soak up the atmosphere and sample some of the local produce. From families with children to couples looking for a peaceful retreat this area can offer a wide range of holiday experiences from evening open air theatres to go carting and bowling.

Lovely family week in Dordogne

We've just returned from a smashing week, a perfect balance of things to do to keep everybody happy and a relaxing get away from it all site....even though the weather was mixed. Greeted by fields of sunflowers and vineyards, the Gite is pretty, clean, comfortable and lots of space and everything you would need. The owners live on site which is reassuring but by no means intrusive.Nicely set out for privacy or for mixing with other families. Pool a lovely size, and a nice big field which accommodated the football, rugby and cricket needs of 2 boys, and the owner even cut the grass to make things even better. Bicycles, Table tennis and Boules matches helped to fill the days.
At first a little worried we were maybe too far from the big attractions of the Dordogne, we decided we had got it just right, The local medieval town of Eymet is so pretty and some nice reasonable restaurants... we were lucky to have coincided with a medieval festival. Bergerac a lovely market. 40 minutes in one direction St Emillion ( definitely argue about the driving... very beautiful and the free tasting we'd planned a few hours and ended up making a day of it.) and 40 minutes the other direction the caves and canoeing a must , picture postcard Dordogne, and the canoeing was much easier thanexpected, although we did get a taste of how much busier these areas can be.
All in all a good choice and yes we would recommend.
