'La Petite Maison' a lovely little self-catering cottage, ideal for a summer holiday rental is superbly situated in the heart of the peaceful and picturesque Dordogne, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The property has been sympathetically converted retaining many original features and is located in its own private garden within the grounds of the main farmhouse with full use of the large swimming POOL It is the only rental on the site, guaranteeing privacy. Within walking distance of the cottage is a picturesque Lake with a sandy beach, where a bar/restaurant ' La Guinguette' is open during the season, for both meals and drinks daytime and evenings. A short drive away ( 2 kms) there is a supermarket and the local village of Vergt, with shops bars and restaurants. There is a lively market in Vergt on Friday mornings and evening Markets weekly during July and August Vergt is equidistant from the Historic and beautifull cities of Bergerac and Perigueux,

Nearest Airport: Bergerac at 22 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Perigueux/Bergerac/Mussidan at 20 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: A89 16 k at 16 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 1.0 Kilometres

The property is ideally situated near to the village of Vergt and equidistant from the Towns of Bergerac and Perigueux, about 20 min away. Although very rural and tranquil, we have no shortage of ameneties, being within easy reach of the local supermarket and the charming village of Vergt, with several restaurants bars and Auberges within easy reach. Bergerac airport is served by Ryanair from Stansted and Nottingham and Flybe from Bristol /Southampton and Birmingham. Check the net for bargain prices. We are also easily accessible from Limoges Airport which is also served by Ryanair, although the drive is a bit longer (quite often a bit cheaper than Bergerac). It is worth booking your hire car on line with Ryanair if you are flying with them as they have an agreement with Hertz and offer prices which are hard to beat. P&O ferries offer discounts to users of this website.

Notes: The kitchen is very well equipped with large cooker fridge and washing machine, and a wecome pack is provided which includes Tea, Sugar, Coffee, Milk, Butter, Cheese, Bread, and Eggs. The sitting room is double hieght up in to the eaves and is overlooked by a pretty mezzanine bedroom. There is a very comfortable settee in the sitting room. The sitting room has french doors which lead out to a private terrace and garden, with barbeque and garden furniture. The pool is available for guests at all times and is equipped with sunbeds and parasols. Client's are welcome to use of the internet which is avilable in the main house.

Nearby attractions: The historic towns of Bergerac and Perigueux are just a short drive away, and the many caves and attractions of the area are also within easy reach. Canoeing and rafting are also to be found on the rivers of the Dordogne.

Other Activities: Canoeing and white water rafting are available on the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. There are many prehistoric caves, chateaux and gardens in the area.

Our perfect honeymoon at La Petite Maison

My wife and I couldn't have wished for a better location to spend our honeymoon! I prefer to use the word 'intimate', rather than 'little', when describing the Petite Maison, as it really does contain everything that is required for a quiet, country getaway. The surrounding area is picturesque beyond description and there are some beautiful towns and villages to be discovered within an hour's drive. The gardens that the barn shares with the owners' house are imacculately kept and the pool area is a mini sun-trap. Despite everything we discovered in the local area during our honeymoon, perhaps the greatest find was the barn's owners. Babs and Izzy are quite possibly the two most amiable people we have ever met. They were always close by to offer helpful advice on places to visit or eat, but at the same time were respectful of our privacy. They are also fantastic company to share a bottle or two of wine with; welcoming us into their home like they'd known us for years. I really can't recommend La Petite Maison highly enough and would return there for future holidays in a heartbeat!

A measure of how much we enjoyed the place is that as soon as we knew the dates of our holidays this year we booked again.
The peace and quiet of the place and the views of the surrounding countryside were delightful.
The swimming pool was practically exclusive use.
We were pleased with the advice on local amenities from our hosts.
When we pointed out the dvd player did not work they purchased a new one although we assured them that we were unlikely to use it.
It was everything we expected.

We spent a great week in the barn in June this year. It is a wonderful hideaway from the rest of the world - very peaceful with fabulous views. The swimming pool was a great bonus - we had this to ourselves - although it was very invigorating in June !! Babs and Issy were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome without interfering. The stairs to the bedroom were a little difficult for my husband who has problems walking and climbing stairs but we managed.

A Relaxing French Retreat

This small, charming cottage was perfect for our stay in the Dordogne and we will return if the opportunity arises. The owners went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our break as much as possible, including providing provisions on arrival, loaning bicycles and recommending local places to eat.

The pool was stunning and the local area very quiet and relaxing. A number of tourist attractions were available within an hours drive.
