A beautifully restored traditional barn conversion with fantastic oak beams and chestnut floors close to the river. The house has it's own private garden set in tranquil woodland with nothing to disturb you and is fully equipped with modern appliances, wood burning fire and electric heating. This is the perfect place to relax in privacy, get away from it all and yet still be less than 15 minutes away from the stunning medieval towns/villages of Sarlat, Gourdon, Domme and le Roque Gageac to name but a few. For a truly charming experience, dine outside next to our beatufil bread oven at a table that easily seats 8 - 10, or even light it up and have barbeque. The accommodation has 2 large bedrooms, one with a double bed and a sunny breakfast terrace outside. The second has two single beds. There is also a fold up bed making the total sleeping capacity 5 (in beds). We provide complimentary Welcome Pack on your arrival containing wine and local bread and cheeses.

Capital of Black Périgord, Sarlat is an exceptionally preserved city. More than 1.000 years of architecture live through lanes, roofs of roofing stones and fair and hot stone walls. Domme is a very attractive bastide town, in one of the best locations possible and is possibly the most beautiful town in the Dordogne. The village of LA ROQUE-GAGEAC is almost too perfect, its ochre-coloured houses sheltering under dramatically overhanging cliffs and is regularly winner of France's prettiest village contest. In the Middle Ages, Gourdon was an important place, deriving wealth and influence from the presence of four monasteries. Owing to the number of rivers and the local geology the Dordogne has some magnificent cave complexes. You will find two different types: 'Gouffres' are underground, whilst 'Grottes' are accessed from a rock face. There are spectacular villages built around cliffside troglodyte dwellings such as Rocamadour or La Roque Gageac.

Notes: The barn has been faithfully restored to provide the comforts of modern living while retaining the features and intrigue of the original design. The ground floor is split level with the lounge on the lower part. The lounge has a large wood burning fire with comfortable seating for 5 in front of it. Entertainment is available through the English and French satellite TV, DVD and CD player. The oak dining table and chairs seat 5 comfortably. On the upper level of the ground floor is the kitchen which has modern units and high quality appliances. Cooking by electricity with a four ring ceramic hob and electric fan oven. There is a dishwasher, washing machine and refrigerator. Going up the stairs to the first floor there is a landing cupboard containing the hot water system and cleaning / ironing. Excellent Dordogne Sechoir.

We spent a wonderful fortnight in June 2009 in this beautifully restored barn conversion. Surrounded by picturesque and rolling countryside near the river Dordogne,
the location was ideal for visiting the many nearby attractions.A few kilometres from the house is the village of Grolejac with retsaurants,post office and shops and canoe hire on the river.About 40mins away is the beautiful city of Sarlat with supermarkets and one of the best Saturday markets in France. The surrounding area is packed with places of interest Domme,Beynac,Roque de Cageac, and the wonderful gardens of Marquesac and Eyerignac and (our favourite) the Cadiot gardens.
The house was very comfortable,clean, and well equipped with a nice balcony off the main bedroom for al fresco dining and
another area to the front of the house ,complete with barbeque ,for dinner under the stars. This would be an ideal
house for a couple or a family with two children.The nearby
river provides lots of opportunities for swimming,canoeing and fishing and there are lots of places for riverside picnics.
A guided tour of the river on a traditonal barque from Roque Cageac is not to be missed!
The owners of the property Mark and Melanie,who live in the adjacent farmhouse are very friendly,helpful and unobtrusive, but there if you need them.
Drawbacks: None really except for the lack of a freezer compartment in the fridge for those holiday essentials,Ice cream and ice cubes!
We would happily recommend this house and location for
a wonderful rental!

A lovely location in the countryside with great hosts a stone-throw away to answer any queries and to provide local information. The property is beautifully maintained, the facilities are excellent and the welcome basket on arrival was so thoughtful. There are many wonderful sights and activities in the vicinity. I would certainly recommend this to anyone visiting the Dordogne region.
