Beaugarie is a 19th Century Perigordine farmhouse and converted barn set around a central courtyard. It is idyllically located in 5 acres of secluded gardens surrounded by natural woodland. All of our guests are assured of the warmest welcome from the resident English hosts and young family, and will enjoy excellent accommodation in the beautiful converted barn called Le Puits. All facilities are maintained to an extremely high standard. Inside, there is a luxurious, double-height beamed lounge area with balcony and Sky TV. There is also a modern fully-equipped kitchen/dining area. The ground floor also houses the master bedroom suite, with en-suite shower room and private terrace. Outside, there is a beautiful, fully enclosed garden with shaded terrace/barbecue area, children swings/slide, table tennis and the luxury of a private solar panel heated 10m x 5m swimming pool with sun loungers/parasols. Everything in fact for the perfect, relaxing family holiday in tranquil surroundings.

Le Puits is 5 minutes away (2km) from the pretty market town of Mareuil-Sur-Belle, which offers a full range of shops, including a supermarket, bars/restaurants, bank, garage, post office, gift shop, doctors and a dentist. Small local market on Tuesday mornings. Riberac with larger supermarkets and a large and colourful weekly market is about 20km. Lac Jemaye, set in the forest with beautiful white sandy beaches, picnic areas, cafe/restaurants, canoeing etc is 30km. To the east is the delightfully pretty riverside town of Brantome with its prehistoric caves and ancient abbey built into the rocks. At 39km there is Perigueux, a city with beautiful medieval and roman buildings, where the old town is a particularly attractive place to stroll, shop and lunch. Also approx 30 km to the north is the lively city of Angouleme, packed with great architecture, shops and restaurants. There are also several golf courses in the surrounding area.

Additional information about rental rates

  • All prices are based on a party of 7 people sharing. We offer discounts for smaller parties and longer bookings (please contact us for full details). The rental period is Saturday to Saturday, arrival from 4pm, departure by 11am. Prices are inclusive of all electricity, gas, water, linen, bath towels and pool towels. An additional two guests can be accommodated in 'Le Puits', for which a small additional charge may be payable. There are no additional charges for the use of the baby/toddler facilities. We can accommodate shorter breaks outside of July/August.
  • A 25% deposit is required with confirmation of booking and the balance is payable within 8 weeks of arrival. For bookings made within 8 weeks of arrival, the whole amount is required with the booking. In the event of cancellation, the deposit will only be refunded if we are able to re-book the holiday, so guests are strongly advised to take out adequate cancellation insurance. Adequate travel insurance is also recommended.

Wow!, I know that's not probably the best way to start but that is exactly how we felt on our arrival, the place is just so beautiful set in stunning countryside, immaculate in it's grounds, spotless and very well maintained affording total privacy and complete peace, we were a large family staying two weeks, Lee and Ester took fantastic care of us with out any fuss or intrusions it felt as if we were visiting old friends, activities abound in this area of France and the food and restaurants are world class, again Lee and Ester were great for knowing were to go and when. I must mention the pool perfect size and again immaculate in its maintenance, with pool alarm just great! I should also tell you all we have booked for next year something we never do, but when you find somewhere so special as Beaugarie is, you will find that you just have to go back.

We know how important it is to have a good holiday and we always do everything possible to help provide one by maintaining all of the facilities here to the highest standards and by helping in any other way we can. In particular this year, the extended garden patio and the new washing machine and dish washer have proved very popular. This was the best equipped house we've found in over 10 years of independent holidaying in France. Super location, great for walking. Smashing hosts (and very friendly dogs). We had a super time here, there is so much to do in the area. Fantastic pool and terrace. Would highly recommend to others.

Beaugarie is truly a beautiful and relaxing place for a holiday. By far the cleanest and best maintained property we have rented in several years of holidaying in France, set in a lovely spot. The owners could not have been more welcoming and were always pleased to provide advice and help, if required. But you also have your privacy, with a good-sized, very clean pool set in an enclosed private, garden. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, with an abundance of stunning villages and towns, with many superb restaurants. Good walking right on the doorstep as well. The nearby village is handy for everyday needs, with a supermarket, bakers and other shops. There are also a handful of places to eat and have a drink. In summary, great property, great area and great host. We would definitely make an effort to return.
