Exceptionally well equipped - La Tannerie mixes antique and modern, peace and tranquility - perfection with something for everyone. All the beautifully furnished bedrooms have TV/DVDs. Exceptionally well equipped and large enough for everyone to have their own space and yet come together and enjoy their holiday. The 80m2 open plan lounge is set out in two distinct styles - luxury leather suites and modern furnishing in the television area and antique furniture in the music area - with two log burners both provide enough seating for everyone. The large bedrooms have English and French antique furnishing, beams and exposed stone walls. The newly fitted kitchen/dining room has a 5 ring prof cooker, cooker hood, dishwasher, breakfast bar, wooden worktops and large fridge freezer. Doors open onto your own outside veranda where you can eat your breakfast looking out over the pool and garden. A 'Juliette' balcony looks over the millstream.     Please note that the prices quoted above are for the whole of the Millhouse - for groups of up to 12 people (including childred).

    Prices include all linen, towels, gas and electricity and logs out of season.
  • DEPOSIT:
    A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking.
    BREAKAGE BOND:
    We request a Breakage Bond of 300GBP - in 'cleared funds' - prior to the date of your arrival (in euros if paid on the day of arrival).
    Your breakage bond will be returned to you 7 days after your departure - minus any breakages incurred.
    Departure time is no later than 0930 am and Arrival time is 4.00pm onwards.
    We hope that you will appreciate that on your arrival the millhouse has been left for you in 'pristine' condition and we therefore ask our guests to leave the property as they have themselves found it - any excessive cleaning at the end of your stay will unfortunately have to be charged for.
  • SMALL GROUP FROM 2-4 PEOPLE - Special rates can be quotes for smaller groups - please contact us to discuss your party size.

Notes: The Millhouse is equipped with everything you could possibly need to ensure that 'home from home' atmosphere. First floor kitchen - completely refurbished in 2008 - with 5 burner professional cooker If we have missed anything - we ask our guests to let us know and we will be only too pleased to provide it. We have alarmed the pool to comply with French Regulations but children still need to be supervised at all times. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our pool and it is maintained on a daily basis - this is usually carried out before your first swim. There are loungers, tables and parasols around the pool, a pergola with table and chairs, also other covered veranda and balcony eating areas and we have placed a garden swing in the shade of the hazelnut tree. Baby sitting can be arranged if you wish time to enjoy one of the many superb restaurants on your own. Sorry - the house is a non-smoking area please use the ashtrays provided in the garden.

Note : A Little Piece of Paradise in the Dordogne: Perigord Blanc - named after the white stone rocks of the area - When you come to the Perigord Blanc it is like stepping back in time - our roads are not busy and the air is clean and fresh. Our seasons are a little ahead of England and the climate is perfect - the countryside is green - you will have to get used to our slower pace of life but you will certainly be able to relax and leave all your stresses at home!! You will soon slip into the two hour lunches and our sleepy way of life. Discover also the Perigord Vert and of course Perigord Poupre - the wine area with its rows of beautifully tended vines and interesting local wines to taste in one of the many chateau vineyards close by.

How to find us :: It is easy to get here with flights to Bergerac, Limoges and Bordeaux and also flights now to Angouleme - using either Ryanair, BA, AirLingus or Flybe. You can now fly from Stansted, East Midlands, Leeds and Bradford, Bristol, Edinburgh, Exeter, Southampton, Birmingham and Liverpool. Car hire is cheap and you can take advantage of the offers the flight companies make on their websites. By Ferry - Boulogne, Caen, Calais, St Malo, Le Havre and Cherbourg. Paris (6+ hours) etc - serviced by the excellent auto routes and the A89 is now to St Astier/Neuvic just 10 minutes away. We can supply you with details on how to find us.

The description of the Tannerie was excellent, but it's not until you walk into the beautiful property, that you realise that this is a pristine property, loved by the owners and designed to cater for your every need. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. It has been restored and maintained to a very high standard. Malcolm and Joyce cleaned the pool, the loungers and the tables every day and everything was cared for.
Malcolm and Joyce live on site and are there for you from the minute that you arrive, with the lovely welcome drink and welcome pack, but do not invade your private space at all.
Our children (aged 14, 14, 12 and 11) enjoyed the pool, the darts, the badminton, the table tennis, the table football, the bikes(mainly for children) and the DVDs. They also loved the layout of the Tannerie with its wooden stairs at different levels. The parents loved the games and also the space. There are many different places to sit all around the property, both inside and outside, in the sun and the shade.
The village is a very short stroll and the children loved going to the boulangerie/epicerie for the bread every morning. It is a great base for all sorts of activities. Our girls went horse riding locally( 30 mins away) and canoeing on the Vezere(1.5 hours away), although there is also canoeing from St. Astier nearby (10 mins). Lake Jemaye (20 mins) was a wonderful place to go with free parking, swimming in the lake, sunbathing on the beach and free canoeing. We went there a couple of times. The restaurants at the lake served great lunches, especially the salads. We also visited Brantome (beautiful artisan place to stroll around with great canoeing on the Dronne which encircles Brantome), Perigeux, Riberac and many other places. You could of course do nothing except play round the pool and the Tannerie as there is plenty for the children to do.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates quality accommodation in a wonderful setting

Lovely French Getaway

When we were greeted by Malcolm and Joyce with a glass of Kir Royale and a welcome pack on our arrival we knew the Millhouse was going to be the perfect place from which to explore this delightful part of France. We were able to walk into the little village each morning to get our locally baked croissants and wood fired bread, buy our wine from the Epicerie and if we didn't want to venture far, enjoy a home cooked lunch in the local Tabac. Malcolm and Joyce have done a wonderful job of restoring the Millhouse and there was plenty of space in and around the property for our party of 6 adults to enjoy.

Malcolm and Joyce also very kindly helped out when our car broke down, picking up and dropping us off when needed.

I would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Dordogne region of France.

Wonderful house in a fantastic setting

I have just returned from a fantastic holiday and I can honestly say I am totally stress free. The owners of the property have really gone into intricate detail, preserving the house with its original features, it was spotlessly clean and catered for our every whim, with a kitchen to die for!

The children played in the swimming pool during the day and it was equipped with many loungers and parasols, then there were the games to keep them occupied, table tennis, pool, darts, bikes, volleyball and when they tired of the sun, it was indoors to choose one of hundreds of DVD's or play the computer games.

Although we ate in most nights on one of the many terraces (we were also suppied with a great welcome pack), we also enjoyed a few wonderful dining experiences within the local area.

Whether you are one family or a large party you will have so much space to enjoy the freedom and relax
