The spacious ground floor incorporates a superbly fitted kitchen, with many appliances, in the open-plan 40m2 dining area. The huge chimney-breast separates it from the vaulted sitting area which has large French doors opening onto the terrace. Beyond the entrance hall there is a family bedroom with en-suite and its own dining table. There are 3 further double bedrooms, one with en suite, on the first floor and a separate staircase takes you to the 5th bedroom in the Tower. BBQ, Bikes, games, TV etc.

We have provided bicycles for all ages; there is also a child's seat that can fit on an adult bike. This means that all the pretty country lanes can be explored together. We even provide a picnic basket for your use. Les Jonies is surrounded by woods and wild-flower meadows, a walkers paradise! There is badminton, table-tennis, garden snakes and ladders, boules court, a bouncy playhouse for younger children and ball games. For the less energetic, the overflowing bookcases provide plenty of reading if you just want to relax in the garden hammock under the trees. There is also quite an assortment of board and card games and a tuned piano.

Notes to the rental rates

• Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday (we can be flexible in low season by prior arrangement ); arrival is after 4.30pm and we ask you to vacate the house by 10am on the Saturday you leave. (French Time) Changes to this by prior arrangement only. 25% deposit confirms a reservation. Balance is due 6 weeks before arrival. Security/damages deposit of £300 is required on a separate cheque with the final payment. The amount of your security deposit is returned within 14 days of your departure and any costs will be deducted (if any) for replacements or repairs following your stay. Bed linen and towels (1 bath and 1 hand) supplied. Not pool or beach towels. There is no charge for wood used on the open fires. Electricity and central heating costs are charged at cost when used.

Attractions in the area

There are good, abundant restaurants in the villages and towns around us. Still very 'French' - as we are off the main tourist routes here; they will have their 'set menu', often of regional delights but also the 'a la carte' that is usually very good and very reasonable. You are spoilt for choice with outdoor markets; each day a different town or village and in July and August, evening markets where you can drink and eat while you survey the colourful stalls full of fresh produce and other tempting goods. There are two 'Pleasure Lakes' in easy reach where there are water sports and beaches safe for young children; both set in beautiful countryside. Further afield you can reach the west coast in 1 and1/2 hours using the fast, new Bordeaux motorway. In a pretty village not far away, Jon Paul at the riding stables will take you for an amazing trek round the countryside - the best way to see the Vern valley where we live. For the energetic our bikes are at your disposal.

Cabin for 2+1

The cabin is situated above the fishing lakes and not in view of the house. It can be booked separately, but it does not have use of the pool and gardens unless there is no one in the house. It is some way from the house. Rates are reduced on the cabin if rented with the house. It is a marvellous 'get-away'. It has a French double bed and a single in the studio type accommodation, a separate newly fitted kitchen and newly fitted shower room. There is a table and chairs on the balcony, where the quiet countryside can be viewed over coffee and croissants. Magic! ! !
