Terraced dining areas, a children's play area and mature plants and flowers provide a a peaceful safe oasis enclosed by high walls and secure electric gates. Saint Astier is a small market town/village set in the heart of the Dordogne. It offers wonderful restaurants from gourmet dining to good quality family pitza. No need to take your car - just walk out to the local boulangerie, patisseries and restaurants. The town offers something for all ages with a fabulous weekly market, bars, beauty salons, canoeing etc By car you can visit the delights of the Dordogne; Sarlat, Perigueux, La Bouge, Les Eyzies, Bordeaux, Brantome and many of the major historic and ancient villages and towns around this area. Visit the wine districts and their vineyards and chateaux at St.Emilion, Bordeaux or Montpazier. Enjoy the sunshine at one of our local beaches by a lake or visit Aquapark, go canoeing, horse riding or play golf. Best of all just take a book and relax in our lovely garden and enjoy some peace and tranquility amongst the lovely plants and flowers, or take a leisurely walk straight from the house along the river Isle.

The Village

During the summer months the town and local chateau play host to annual events including antiques fairs, music festivals and occasional night markets with outstanding fireworks on the river. All are free of charge and wonderful fun for young children, teenagers and adults alike. Every Thursday morning a thriving French market comes a stone's throw away from the front door - grab your shopping basket and enjoy! A smaller organic market can be found in the market square on a Sunday mornings.

Within minutes walk from the house:
