2 Spacious holiday homes in recently restored 18th century manor house; restoration using traditional building methods and natural building materials respecting the original volumes and proportions. The Gite Laurier has 3 bedrooms can sleep 6-8 people (3 double beds and 2 singles) , 2 bathrooms upstairs + an extra toilet downstairs. The Gite Glycine has 5 bedrooms, four with ensuite bathroom s( 1 bedroom/bathroom downstairs, adapted for disabled person). Both gites have fully equipped modern kitchens, open fireplaces, and comfortable lounges The garden s have garden furniture barbeques, and shade. The pool, in the adjoining park is shared by the two gites. The house is situated on the outskirts of the village of Cenac. All of the shops are within walking distance and the river and beach are on the other side of the village. These are self-catering units. Quilts or blankets are supplied but you should ask if you need linen.

The gite Glycine has a big open plan kitchen/ dining room with an open fire, a comfortably furnished living room with open fire, four upstairs bedrooms each with it's own bathroom, and one downstairs bedroom suitable for a disabled person ( large doorways and specially equipped bathroom.)The downstairs bedroom has a single bed. The upstairs rooms are equipped with 2 double beds and 5 single beds .The private garden in front of the gite has garden furniture and a barbecue. The kitchen equipment includes a stove with 4 gas burners, an electric oven, a micro-wave oven and a dishwasher, fridge with freezer, washing machine, electric jug, coffee maker and toaster....There is an ample supply of hot water.The house is also equipped with a washing machine and a small deep freezer. There is a DVD player in the living room. The cost of electricity and gas are included in the rental price.

The house is well-situated in a village which has all of the necessary shops (supermarket, baker, butcher, newsagent...) and services (post office, doctor...) and in a holiday regions with country tracks for walking, mountain-biking or horse-riding and facilities on the Dordogne River for swimming and canoeing. There are many splendid medieval villages and castles to visit ( Domme is within easy walking distance) as well as all of the prehistoric sites along the Vezere River (Lascaux, Les Eyzies). The nearest town is the magnificent medieval site of Sarlat. In a region renowned for its gastronomy, the gourmet will find no end of high quality restaurants. The vineyards of Domme, Bergerac, Bordeaux, Cahors and Gaillac are all within easy driving distance. The summer season attracts a great variety of summer festivals, both musical and theatres, which make the most of the natural decors and the medieval sites. Notes: This newly finished gite has been specially renovated so that the original wooden beams upstairs are still visible. The downstairs floors have all been renewed with specially prepared flag stones so as to preserve the original style. The French doors opening onto the garden have been remade preserving the original 'belle epoque' curves. An ancient wistaria vine and a well-garnished hedge separate the two gites making them perfectly private despite being in the same building. The owner has just finished building a beautiful over-flow swimming pool (14mx6m) in the adjacent park. This pool is to be used by the occupants of the property. It is situated on a sunny but peaceful and secluded slope about 50 meters from the garden.

Great vaction in a wonderful villa

I stayed in the Gite Glycine during the holidays. We were a group of 3 families with children. We found the house enchanting and spacious. This house combines both the luxury of an antique castle with the comfort of modern life. Its antique furniture, unique carpets and old-fashioned fire place gave character to the place. The fully equipped kitchen with its modern appliances, the washing machine and the unavoidable TV, DVD and stereo in the communal living room provided a sense of ease.
The garden is huge and the view is breathtaking.Our children had lots of room to play around and all of us had great fun swimming in the secluded pool.
We arrived to the house after a long journey and were happy to find the owner Jean waiting for us. Jean, who speaks fluent English and French, was very kind and helpful. She explained everything we needed to know about the house and the area and willingly offered recommendations for trips and fine restaurants (by the way, we enjoyed the food and atmosphere of Le Saint Martial in the nearby village of St Martial de Nabirat).
Every day we went sightseeing to one of the many attractions nearby. But it was wonderful to come home every afternoon to our rented house, to cook and enjoy our family and friends.
To sum up we had a great time in this house and the area as well and we recommend it full heartedly. We already plan our trip for next year with our friends.
