Chateau de Fayolle, a romantic, 15th century, luxury, stone chateau to rent, with views across the Dordogne valley, is set amongst the vine-covered, gently undulating countryside south of Bergerac. Secluded but not isolated, the chateau is at the centre of a one hundred-acre estate with vineyard, which produces quality wines and is the prefect place for your dream holiday. Recently lovingly restored, the chateau is furnished with French antiques but with modern comforts. In the tranquillity of the walled garden you can sit in the shade of the giant cedars, stroll around the half-timbered pigeonnier and private chapel or relax by the private swimming pool. Staying at the Chateau de Fayolle offers you the unique experience of living life as a chatelain on a working vineyard. You can watch the gentle pace of growing grapes and making wine take place around you and will be invited to a complimentary private wine tasting and tour of the winery.

  • All bedrooms at Chateau de Fayolle have been individually decorated and traditionally furnished in an authentic style. The Chapelle Suite and Moulin bedroom both boast hand crafted four-poster beds and all rooms have high quality finishes to ensure the utmost comfort during your stay. Each of the five bedrooms benefit from uninterrupted views over the surrounding vineyards and valley or the private park, and are not overlooked. The beds inthe two twin rooms can be pushed together to make king-size doubles if required. The ground floor apartment is ideal for older guests who may have difficulty using the stairs. It was formerly the owners apartment and not originally included in the rental so although well finished it is not in the same style as the other rooms.

Chateau de Fayolle offers very spacious living accommodation, with original oak beams, wooden floors, high ceilings and stone walls and fireplace surrounds throughout. On the ground floor the grand salon is comfortably furnished with large sofas and equipped with a home entertainment centre. Through the archway to the petit salon you can relax reading one of a large selection of books or play a table top game. In the medieval dining room you can enjoy a formal meal at the long oak dining table surrounded by tapestries and the large stone open fireplace. For more informal dining choose from the very large, fully equipped kitchen with seating for 12, or the outside covered dining area. After dinner why not retire to the palier for a game of snooker.

Peace and tranquility

The chateau is set in its own private walled park where you can relax during the long lazy days and warm evenings of the south west of France. You can sunbathe by the private pool, play table tennis on the lawn, stroll around the parc, private chapel, pigeonnier, ramparts and adjacent old chateau ruin or take out the bicycles and explore the tranquility of the surrounding villages and vineyards. There is an excellent restaurant within walking distance of the Chateau.

A Working Vineyard

Chateau de Fayolle is a working vineyard producing a selection of quality wines. During your stay you will be offered a selection of wines to enjoy as well as the opportunity to attend a private tasting and tour of the winery with our compliments. You are welcome to take a stroll through the vineyards and information is available at the chateau if you want to brush up on your wine knowledge. You can also place on order for any of our wines which will be ready for your departure and we are sure will provide you of happy memories of your stay.
