A charming house for the discerning guests seeking extra quality and comfort. Antique furnished sitting room, gourmet cook's kitchen/diner, ensuite shower rooms, cosy wood burning stove and satellite TV. 'La Coyenne' is in the small hamlet of Le Bousquet, Allas Les Mines. Set on the South side of the Dordogne river, an idyllic rural retreat for nature lovers, in 4 acres of wooded garden with stunning views across the valley to Beynac. This is a perfect place to just relax, sunbathe, sip your aperitifs on the terrace, make a barbecue, read a book, listen to the birds singing. The terrace can be shaded from the hot sun by a striped patio awning when dining al fresco. If you can bear to leave the house and garden, it is only 5km to shops, restaurants and a river beach. La Coyenne is within easy reach of the Renaissance town of Sarlat, prehistoric sites like the Lascaux Caves, the Vezere Valley, chateaux and vineyards. And good restaurants serving Perigord cuisine and regional wine!

Additional information about rental rates

  • 25% booking deposit required which is non-refundable unless a re-booking for the period can be arranged. Land line telephone is available at a small extra extra charge plus the cost of calls. Security deposit £200 (reimbursable). Heating and firewood is extra off-season, rates negotiable.
  • Please note that the minimum rental period from the end of October to the end of March is 4 weeks.
We also accept payment in Sterling cheques, US $ and Euros either by bank transfer or personal cheque.
  • We aim to keep our rates competative and would like to think that our guests, who often return, are part of our extended family and feel at home at La Coyenne. We welcome suggestions about how to make your stay more pleasant. We don't have a swimming pool, which we know is unusual for the area, but we don't swim and the cost of building one, and maintaining it, both to us and our guests, would be disproportionate

A Dordogne gem

Bill & Di B Stamford, Lincolnshire
Review Submitted: October 10, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our 7th stay at La Coyenne - so why do we keep coming back? Having self catered in France for some 20 years La Coyenne is undoubtedly our favourite place. Beautiful and peaceful location, very well equipped, ideally situated for discovering the Dordogne region and most of all value for money. Plus a very helpful owner and you pay in sterling.

Over the years La Coyenne has been tastefully upgraded to a very high standard of self catering accommodation which makes it a comfortable place to stay whatever the weather. All being well we will be back in 2010.

A peaceful retreat

Caroline2 Oxford
Review Submitted: September 7, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The thing that most impressed us about La Coyenne was how incredibly well-equipped, clean and well-maintained it was. The kitchen and bathrooms in particular were excellent. The location was quiet, with morning sunshine on the terrace, and plenty of shady trees for the afternoon. Best of all was the view, from the terrace, of Beynac castle in the distance, with the evening sun on it. The garden was fantastic for older children to play in - large and partly wild, allowing for great games and exporing. There were many interesting things to do in the area, including canoeing on the rivers Vezere and Dordogne, markets, castles and walks, and plenty of information on these was provided by the owner. At the bottom of the main road to the property, a couple of miles away, there is good access to the river for free swimming - a great picnic location. We loved an evening meal at the Petit Chaperon Rouge restaurant nearby, though mainly ate in. The owner provided excellent customer service, including clear directions and information on the house. I would definitely recommend this property to friends. Superb value, and a really relaxing place to stay.
