Beautiful gite, great location, warm welcome
EmT, St Albans
Review Submitted: August 11, 2008, Date of stay: August, 2008
We only got home yesterday, and I'm already inspired to write a review. As other reviewers have said, the gite really is absolutely lovely, and beautifully kept. We have stayed in some great gites before, but none that were so private, and yet with so much outside space. For the first time this year we were travelling with two children, one a baby, and so spent less time than usual on days out, so it was important to us to stay somewhere a bit special where we could happily spend lots of time. We really liked the fact that there was a choice of six outdoor seating areas - three by the house and three by the pool. As with other reviewers, we visited the local restaurant (twice, actually) and received a really warm welcome despite being the only English people there.
Sarlat and the surrounding area is beautiful, with lots to do. There are so many different parts of France to visit, each with their own character, but we keep returning time and again to the Dordogne, and never tire of it.
Many thanks to Kate and Eric (and Henri the dog) for going out of their way to make sure that we had a lovely holiday. We would highly recommend this gite to anyone!
Owner's response:
Thankyou for your kind review.
We do try to help people have good holidays so it is lovely to get such a kind review.
As you found out we do try to cater for all ages, unlike many other gites we do provide free of charge, a babies cot, bath and high chair, as guests say this all helps on space in the car. We do appreciate customer comments and wherever possible we do act upon them.
The garden is very large so it is great and safe for children to explore, the table tennis area is always popular for the slightly older children ( and parents).
The local restaurant is ideal as it is so close to the house and it does have an excellent reputation with the Sarlardaise people, booking for a Saturday night is recommended to avoid disappointment.
The Dordogne has a lot to offer tourists and the house is in a perfect location to enable guests visit it at ease.
Sarlat itself is one of the top tourist spots in France, it even has its own film festival in November.
It was our pleasure to have such a pleasant family stay at our house and we would welcome you back without hesitation.
