The Gill Family

DKG Liverpool
Review Submitted: September 1, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We arrived at the cottage just as it was going dark, so did not appreciate the idyllic location and amazing views until the following morning, however we were most appreciative of the welcome pack of food and drink that was provided
The inside of the cottage was exactly as described, very clean and extremely comfortable and was equipped with absolutely everything you could wish for, from BBQ to backgammon and dishwasher tablets to dominos.
The location of the property is stunning, situated in its own grounds, with large pool (which also has fabulous views) and outdoor games area where Badminton, table tennis or boule can be played.
Sarlat town is so picturesque and about 4 minutes by car to the bottom of the hill, then a 4 minute stroll, this avoids the traffic and the competition for parking spaces. There is, what seems, an endless choice of restaurants and street entertainment to while away many an evening.
The area is abundant with great places to visit, there is a comprehensive information folder provided , listing places of interest, restaurants, markets, activities etc, we found this most useful and opted to hire some canoes and completed the 28k trip down the Dordogne, this was the best way to see the sights, at a leisurely pace without the hassles of driving , traffic and parking, with views that are only achievable from the river.
The free wi-fi was a bonus in providing the teenagers in the family the ability to maintain contact with their friends
Finally it would be unthinkable not to mention the owners, Katie and Eric, who have put so much thought and effort into providing, what can only be described as 5 star accommodation. They were always available to answer questions or attend to any problems.
This was one of the best holiday rentals we have had to date; we look forward to returning soon.
Owner's Response: Thankyou ever so much for writing so a wonderful review, it really makes our efforts seem worthwhile.
It was a pleasure to meet you and your family and I think your review really does sum up the house and Sarlat.
Thanks again for taking the time.

An Excellent Holiday Home

Review Submitted: October 15, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We were extrememly delighted when we arrived at this house and found it actually surpassed our expectations.
Everything you could possibly wish for is provided and it was lovely to have such a cheery and welcoming reception from Katie.
There so many good points about this house we say the best thing to do is visit for yourself and discover as we did there are truelly some amazing houses to rent with genuinely kind and caring owners who really do all they can so you can enjoy your holiday to the full.
The house was spotlessly clean and is furnished to a high standard and the beds are so comfortable everybody slept so well, even myself who usually has disturbed nights, but not here, the house is so quiet and tranquil we found ourselves sleeping the best we have in years.
The aroma of lavander when you are sitting out is beautiful and there are numerous places to sit, so if you want to have some time to yourself it is possible. The views from the pool area are excellent and the pool is so large and surrounded by lovely canna lillies, we sat on an evening saying how lucky we were to find this house.
The local restaurants are very reasonable and the choice is numerous, the restaurant on the same road as the house is certainly worth a visit and we even enjoyed a super meal in the michelin restaurant for 30 euros per person, we would never of thought to dine there if it had not been suggested by Katie.
The Dordogne and Sarlat has a lot to visit you could never ever get tired of this region so no doubt we will be returning to this house time and time again.
We would like to say thankyou to both Katie and Eric for giving us good suggestions for visiting places ie what time and day to visit certain things and for being such endearing hosts.

The Perfect Home

Review Submitted: August 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Upon your arrival your first impression is the house is in an idylic location and the swimming pool is very impressive.
The house is furnished to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. There certainly has been a lot of thought and effort in making this a special and luxurious holiday home, and we did feel at home here, that much we did not want to leave!
The food welcome pack and complimentary wine was well appreciated aswell as all the information on the area that is provided in the house.
The house is in such a super location close to town but set in such large grounds you feel as though you are in the country and it is very private.
We certainly had one of our best holidays in years and will be revisiting this house in years to come.
Thanks to katie ad eric.
Owner's Response: Thankyou for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate all comments.
The house we agree is in a great place, close to town so if you forget to buy anything it is only a two minute drive to the nearest supermarket.
The garden is very large, it is over 2.5 acres so it is great for children to play in, and it is a secure garden.
The swimming pool is slightly larger than a normal pool so there is plenty of room for children to slash in.
it is good to hear when people have a great holiday as it makes all pour efforts worthwhile.

Third time lucky

The sharers Grantley
Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This is our third holiday at this house, we have previously visited in the spring and autumn but this time we are here in the summer as we have our grand children with us.
We have never taken the effort to right a review but our grandson made us think when he said this was his favorite ever holiday home in the world and why had he never visited it before, we replied it was our secret holiday home and out of the mouths of babes he said grampy you always told us to share things! so here we are sharing our thoughts about this home.
The house is in a fantastic location within Sarlat and the dordogne department, so getting about is very easy.
The house is very beautiful and extremely clean which is rare when you rent a gite.
It is furnished beautifully and is full of charm and character, just what you imagine a traditonal french house to be.
The food welcome pack is just what you need when you arrive so you can chill out with a glass of wine before you attack the very close supermarket ( 5 minutes away).
The dishwash tablet, washingup liquid, toilet paper, tin foil are also provide which is very much appreciated.
The pool is incredible and the fact that it is just for the house use makes it all the more special.
A lot of thought has been put into this holiday and we really appreciate that Katie and Eric give such great little tips on how to get the best out of your holiday.
What a truelly wonderful ( not so secret now) holiday home, we highly recommend it to all.
Owner's Response: Well thankyou for writing a review ( eventually) and it was lovely to see you again and yes I am sure you are welcome back with or without the grandchildren.

An excellent holiday had by all

The tispies portmouth
Review Submitted: July 23, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This house ticked all the boxes when we were searching on the internet and in reality it surpassed our dreams and needs.
The house is very charming like its owners and is in such a wonderful location that we will be returning next year.
The house was spotless and extremely well equipped right down to there even being an egg slicer which made my wife laugh as she always takes one with us on holiday!
We had excellent weather so we made good use of the pool which was warm.
We ate out most lunchtimes and some evenings as the restaurants are so reasonably priced.
We enjoyed the walk into town on a morning to enjoy our french style breakfast ( kate will tell you who sells the best coffee and croissants) the walk back helped us to burn some of the calories! We did however use a taxi one night to get home as we found the cocktail bar in the centre of town where you can sit and watch the street entertainers perfom and we seemed a little to tipsy to walk back home.
We all had a thoroughly fantastic holiday in what must be f the best holiday home we have stayed in.
Thanks to both Kate and Eric for all their effort;
We highly recommend this property to all.
