Located at the edge of a small rural hamlet these cottages are set well back from a quiet lane. The hamlet overlooks the Auvézère valley and the surrounding countryside consists of woods and meadows and walnut groves. Perfectly located for those in search of peace and quiet, but within 2 kms of a village with shops and bars. Converted from one long stone barn the two cottages together provide a solution for larger groups. They have sole use of the beautiful 13 x 5m pool with also outdoor table-tennis and badminton.

A beautiful barn conversion with a large, airy living room and cottage style bedrooms The Barn retains many of the original features with beamed ceilings throughout. There is a private garden area with roses, trees and shrubs and a large area of grass suitable for badminton (provided) and other games. Patio furniture and barbecue are provided. The lawn leads to the fenced swimming pool which is shared with The Stables, as is the rest of the garden and outdoor table-tennis. Each cottage has its own gate access to the pool. The pool is surrounded by flowering shrubs and plants and attracts all sorts of butterflies and hummingbird hawkmoths.

Surrounded by woods and meadows this is perfect walking and cycling countryside with quiet lanes and bridle paths and a prolific flora and fauna. Numerous species of orchids can be discovered along the lanes in the early summer. It is a bird watcher's paradise and we have identified well over 50 bird species in and around our garden. For the active there is an equestrian centre at Tourtoirac with 40 horses and ponies to suit all abilities. There are tennis courts locally and numerous places to go canoeing and kayaking. There are golf courses at Périgueux, Brive and Limoges. A large leisure lake at Lanouaille. Also velorails and tree-top adventure parks. Fishing in the nearby rivers and lakes. The small town of Hautefort with it's 17th century chateau is just 4 kms away. The nearest city is Périgueux with it's Byzantine cathedral, just a half hour drive away. Within easy reach is the medieval town of Sarlat, also Brantôme, Bergerac and Limoges.

We live next door to the cottages and you are very welcome to use our Internet access which is broadband, either with your own computer or using ours. The garden and pool enjoy the sun throughout the day but there are plenty of shade trees. The pool is cleaned first thing every morning and, weather permitting, sun lounger cushions are put out.

We have just had a fantastic week staying in the Barn. The facilities were excellent, the location exactly what we wanted and our hosts reached the perfect balance between being attentive to everything required while still allowing the peace and privacy you need on holiday.
