Peace and tranquillity

Review Submitted: July 27, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We have just returned from 2 weeks at this lovely cottage. The cottage has real rural charm and is very comfortable. The terrace and garden give wonderful views. It was so enjoyable to sip a glass of wine watching the sun go down and the millions of stars come out to play.
Would not recommend for young children or the infirm due to the steep stairs and the need for the utmost care when ascending or decending.
Rouffignac is a charming village with a wonderful boulangerie (the cakes are divine). It also has an excellent supermarket which although small is stocked far better than some larger ones in the area.
The whole of the Dordogne region is within easy reach. Even places of interest furthest away are no more than an hours drive. All routes take you through such beautiful countryside
Our highlight of the vacation was Bastille Day in Bergerac. So much music fun and laughter, good food and fine wine. Trips to Sarlat, Monpazier, Belves, Perigueux, Domme and so many more were all enjoyable, as were those lazy days at La Fermette.
Thank you for making our visit so memorable

TRANQUILIDAD EN MEDIO DEL CAMPO

Review Submitted: August 6, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010

Owner's Response: This is the translation: we have spent a week's holiday in surroundings which are special to us as we live in a city. The house is situatedf in a wooded area, without being totally isolated; it is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Perigord region
and come back to the peace and quiet after a day's excursion.

very very nice!!!

Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We just came back home (we live in Italy) and we would like to be yet in Rouffignac! We had a wonderful week and we would recommend this location to our friends. The house is very nice (recently restored) two levels, a big garden, with table, large umbrella and possibility to make barbecue. We were three people (me my wife and my daughter) and also inside there was enough room. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bedrooms are comfortable. The house was very clean.
The place is very quiet and restful (we slept very well) but it's also close to various kinds of activities: culture ( many prehistoric and medieval sites are close to the area of Rouffignac and just a few km from the house there is a very good site, the caves of Rouffignac), sports (canoe, horseriding, swimming; for the children there is the aquapark 15 km from the house, Jacqou Park, our daughter loved it!)
gastronomic sites, very nice towns (Sarlat is a small jewel, but visit also the small towns over the river Dordogne), good restaurant in the area (Les puits fleuri, going to Fleurac, with many specialities from Perigord, including foie gras served with a glass of Monbazillac!).
The owners were very nice and before our trip they sent us a booklet with the main things to do and to see in the area; and in the hoiuse there were plenty of maps, boohlets and touristic stuff.
Our daughter, ten years old, loved so much the house, th garden and all the actvities we had in the week.
We were really satisfied.

Our holiday in Prisse !!

Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Arriving at Prisse and seeing ‘La Fermette’ we were immediately charmed by the looks of the house. We enjoyed the scenery very much. The beautiful surroundings, the calmness of it all, it was most impressing. ‘La Fermette’ is well equipped, comfortable and easy in use.
The Dordogne offered us a lot of walking hours and sight seeing (‘boucles’) We had beautiful morning tours in Sarlat, Terrasson (nice garden), we also visited Chateau de Commarque and so on!
We had a lovely time in ’La Fermette’ and we highly recommend this place to you!
Meta and Paul, we want to thank you very much for this excellent stay

La Fermette review, summer 2008.

Review Submitted: October 21, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
For relaxation, peace and quiet, La Fermette has to be one of the best that we have ever visited!

The setting is superb, in a hamlet with uninterrupted views over the fields from the patio where we spent most of our time.

The house is very adequately furnished with a large comfortable double bed in the main bedroom and two singles in the second. Ok, we needed to duck when upstairs but this is part of the charm and one soon becomes used to it!

Going upstairs needs care, the staircase being steep, however once again this is part of the sympathetic restoration that makes the cottage so attractive.

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything needed for eating in. The washing machine came in useful too!

There is a comfortable areas to sit and relax inside with chairs and settee.

There are bicycles available which we did not use having brought our own with us.

The village of Rouffignac is a 15 minute cycle ride away and has shops, and bars with internet access, in fact most things that one might need on a day to day basis.

There are local restaurants in abundance and it's difficult to recommend any one in particular as they will all appeal in different ways.

We would thoroughly recommend La Fermette for a quiet, romantic getaway or similarly for families with (not too many) children! We recommended it highly.

Hopefully we shall visit again; thank you Meta and Paul for excellent service too..
