The Property:
Le Jardin des Amis, is a recently renovated farmhouse offering comfortable accommodation in one of 5 individually-styled properties. Ideal for groups of between 2-25 persons, including families, couples, or combined groups. Each of the properties has an individual terrace with garden furniture and barbecue. If your idea of the perfect holiday is to relax and do nothing, the peace and quiet to be found beside our pool in the warm sunshine is the place to do it.The large 12x6m pool is open from May to early October. It is rectangular in shape with a depth sloping from 1m to 2.06m. It is furnished with loungers and parasols and backs onto the orchard. Our pool bar provides a welcome break from the sun, relax at the bar with a beer or cold drink, rustle up a bbq for lunch or enjoy one of our impromptu catered evenings in the setting sun.
The Area:
Meyrals is ideally located for exploring everything that this beautiful area has to offer. Situated in the heart of Perigord Noir, we are within a short driving distance of most of the main attractions in the area. The bastide towns with their medieval buildings and the chateaux perched at the tops of craggy rocks will keep the most ardent sightseer in a state of bliss. The more sporting amongst us will appreciate the many activities available including cycling, canoeing, fishing, rock-climbing, cave exploration, tennis or perhaps taking a microlight tour for a bird's eye view of the Dordogne Valley. If you enjoy walking, there are many circular walks setting off from the village of Meyrals. Wildlife abounds here in the surrounding beautiful hills and valleys. Quaint villages are just waiting to be discovered. And, of course, for everybody there are the gastronomic delights of Perigord Noir, home to the world renowned, foie gras, duck confit, truffles, walnuts and wines of the region
Golf:
For the golf aficionado, we are happy to say that we have 9 golf courses within a reasonable driving distance. Lolivarie is an attractive 18 hole golf course only 15 minutes drive. The furthest course that we consider to be a reasonable distance is Chateau de Vigiers at 1.5 hours drive. This is a very attractive course with 2 restaurants and worth the drive. The other seven courses are within 15 minutes to 1 hours drive. They are all 18 hole courses ranging from a public course to exclusive. Most offer club hire (some include childrens clubs), driving ranges, practice greens, professional hire, and club amenities. Non-golfing partners can, amongst other activities, relax by the pool, rent our bikes for leisurely local exploration, visit the local artists galleries or perhaps avail of local painting classes. Comment from a guest:- If you like Golf, the course in Siorac (Lolivarie) (about 20 mins drive) is excellent and unlike many of the Spanish/Portugese resort courses is actually a challenge and interesting. They also offer discounted green fees for couples, which made me feel a bit better after being soundly beaten 3+2 by my wife.Anyway there is literally so much to do it was like 3 holidays in 1 (G Thomas).
