Recently restored perigordian cottage with a 9x4 metre terraced and floodlit pool, set on high ground and bounded by apple orchards, valleys and woodland. An idyllic and peaceful setting offering superb valley views, tranquillity,romantism and charm. The cottage is a perfect base to relax and/or explore the region with it's varied programme of cultural events, exhibitions, markets, fairs and fétes.

We are situated in the North east Dordogne, Aquitaine, close to the perigordian capital of Perigueux and the very beautiful brantome, appropriately called 'the venice of the dordogne'. We are also also perfectly situated to explore the tresors of occitania with its rich cultural and historical buildings, chateaux and bastides. The Atlantic coast is also just 2-3hours distant by car. There are also many local lakes within easy reach offering a wide range of water sports and other facilities.

  • All Bookings run from Saturday to Saturday arrival time 4pm departure time by 10am.
    The Cottage is maid serviced on changeover dates.You must however leave the cottage in a decent condition and respect that other people will be using the accommodation after you so leave it as you would expect to find it when you arrive! Clean and tidy! Any breakages or damages must be reported to us before you leave so we can rectify the situation.Your attention in these matters reflects respectability and the type of guests we welcome.
  • All bed linen,hand and bathing towels are provided for and all prices include electricity, water and gas. Central heating is included in the rental price. Logs for the wood burning stove are supplied free of charge. Access to phone and internet by special request.The internet is dial up only, cost £20 per 60hrs after this time frame £2 per Hr (no high speed ADSL)Large selection of dvd films,books and cd music available for playing.TV and recorders in all rooms.
  • A 30% deposit is required on booking with the balance plus 10% returnable damages / security deposit payable 4/6 weeks prior to commencement of the letting. We will then send you all necessary route directions,regional tourist map and information on location of entrance keys.

Notes: In addition to the three double bedrooms there is a mezzanine which accommodates a further two single beds. This area is only suitable for children. In addition to the swimming pool we have several terraced areas with table tennis,petanque,football, badmington and a large garden salon with seating for eight, two parasols,two barbicues one gas and one charcoal, three swinging hammocks, garden furniture and sun loungers. All rooms are equipped with ventilator fans and electric radiators. Kitchen and bathrooms with extractor fans. The cottage is maid serviced on changeover dates.

The immediate area: The cottage is situated in the NE Dordogne, the Perigord Vert, famous for it's wonderful food and scenic vistas. Many beautiful places rich in historic value are within easy reach, we are just 3km away from one of it's superb sites 'la vallee de l'lsle' above the gorge of this river stands a majestic castle dating back to the XVI century. It is a most outstanding example of chateaux to be found in the Dordogne. The village has made it's best for you to enjoy this marvel of nature.

St.Yrieix La Perche, Thiviers, perigueux: The market towns of Thiviers and St.Yrieix-la-perche are just 15 mins drive away and the larger towns of Limoges and Perigueux the capital are approx. 45kms distant. Brantome,' la petit venise de la Dordogne' takes just 30mins. We are approx. 2hrs45mins from Bordeaux and 6/7hrs from Calais. A dayboat and overnight stop in the Loire makes for a very pleasant journey. St.Yrieix-la perche, the nest of 'la Porcelaine de Limoges' will offer you anything you need like supermarkets, hospital, many shops, bars and restaurants. You will find here a lovely medieval town famous as well for its cuisine. We are also close to many lakes.

Leisure activities: In many surrounding towns and villages you will find plenty of sporting activity such as tennis, fishing,excellent canoeing, horseriding, windsurfing, golf in Limoges and Perigueux and even panning for gold in Jumilhac le Grand. There are numerous restaurants to satisfy the palate of any aspiring gourmet and several night clubs to enjoy. If you like romanticism and impressionism you will like the cottage charm and location. But whether you know France or not you can enjoy your holiday in relaxed or active mode surrounded by scenic beauty, friendly shaded cafés, memorable restaurants and an ambience to remember.

Golf: We have not featured Golf as part of our promotion but being a keen golfer myself can recommend both courses in either Perigueux or Limoges, all within equal distance of under one hour drive. 19th hole and restaurant inclusive.All equipment provided.

Having rented accommadation all over Europe we found yours so very well appointed and so comfortable-we have enjoyed a very happy week,it was so kind of you to allow us to stay in your home.We had some lovely excursions,a very,very good holiday.

Wonderful week.Super house.loved the pool and table tennis.Six young teenagers kept well entertained.Brantome canoeing great entertainment.The fender was put to good use by 15 year old guitarist.Very pleasant location.A good experience of France for old and young.Very many thanks,Simon and Wendy.

Wonderful cottage - full of quirky charm. Well equipped. Does have narrow sprial staircase so getting a large suitcase upstairs is nearly impossible and would not recommend it for families with crawling babies. Very remote quiet location so a car is essential. One of the double bedrooms is very much a thoroughfare giving access to another doubleroom, the upstairs bathroom and the mezzanine with twin singles. There is a resident cat - very friendly but hard to keep out of the cottage. Beautiful towns & villages to visit. Panning for gold was a big hit with our family with even a tiny diamond being found! Caves are spectacular (you do need to book!).
