Spacious cottage within walking distance of historic village
This charming and typically French, character cottage is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and has the added advantage of being within easy reach of many tourist attractions. Horse racing at Pompadour, the 40 hectare Lake Rouffiac and beach, many magnificent chateaux and numerous pre-historic caves – to name but a few. You can take a stroll each morning to buy your fresh croissants for breakfast at nearby Payzac and maybe have a 5 course lunch (including wine) at one of the village restaurants for as little as 10 euros!! The accommodation is spacious and comprises: downstairs - a spacious lounge with log burning fire, dining room with oak parquet flooring, WC, a kitchen/breakfast room with French doors leading onto large terrace with built-in BBQ and beautiful views overlooking the 4 acres of meadow and woods. Upstairs: two spacious bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), shower room/toilet. The owners live nearby and are on hand to help you enjoy your holiday to the maximum.

Although outstandingly beautiful, this area of the Dordogne is relatively undiscovered and you will find the local people extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage is situated on the edge of 3 departments - the Dordogne, Haute Vienne and Correze. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt with rolling hills and valleys, old stone cottages, many rivers and lakes to explore and most famously - the wonderful restaurants boasting dishes of truffles and foie gras. It's almost like stepping back in time. The pace of life is slow and relaxed and the medieval villages and landscape look the same as they did many centuries ago. Nearby (5km) is the ancient Forge and Chateau at Savignac Ledrier. The setting is magnificent with the weir and the backdrop of the fairytale chateau. Here you can picnic and stroll along the river and not see another person in sight. If you enjoy French cuisine, sightseeing, birdwatching, fishing and taking long nature walks then this is the place for you.
Local activities swimming, tennis, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, wind-surfing, water skiing, mountain biking
