Les Hirondelles (The Swallows) are 2 comfortable self catering cottages with a private swimming pool in the Dordogne, France. The self catering cottages, sleeping 4 persons and 6 persons respectively are in the Perigord Blanc Region of the Dordogne in the Forest of Double. The restoration of The Swallows has been sympathetically approached and both cottages retain considerable original XV11 century charm. The self catering cottages share a private 10 metre by 5-metre salt-water swimming pool with a large terrace for sunbathing. Barbeque(s) are available and all linen is provided. A complementary welcome pack including food, fresh fruit and drinks is provided. Details on request. The larger cottage is central in the building and nearest to the Pool from its entrance on the South Side of the farmstead. Access is via the Limestone driveway to the front of the house. Entering the cottage from this aspect you walk into the character sitting and dining room. To your right you will find the large feature fireplace that dominates the Eastern wall of the house. In this main area there is Satellite Television and DVD player facilities. There is one main shower room with fully modern amenities and a separate WC. The Kitchen off of the main sitting room is also fully fitted and supplied with crockery. Fresh linen is supplied. The layout includes 3 bedrooms, 2 being double bedrooms and one being set up with 2 single beds.

Las Fonts is a small hamlet set near the rim of the Dordogne and Lisle valleys and Les Hirondelles is on the edge of the hamlet. The site is set amongst working farmland and has open views over fields in most directions. The immediate area is rural and quiet, yet is close to the main auto route and route national and within fifteen minutes drive of excellent shopping at two well appointed local towns Montpon and Mussidan both of which have good supermarkets. Our local commune is Saint Marcial D’artenset, the village centre is five minutes drive distant north of Les Hirondelles. St. Martial D’artenset is on the N89 between Montpon and Mussidan. Good local restaurants offer a wide selection of menu’s including all regional specialities. The Dordogne is famed for being a gastronomic paradise with wines to complement the cuisine and to delight all palates and pockets. Fishing, canoeing walking and cycling are popular local pursuits along with winetasting. (degustations)

This was one of the most relaxing holidays I've had in my life.

Everything about the place was perfect (pool, view, quiet, books and villa), the hosts stocked us up on food for when we arrived and we were enjoying wine with them within 3 minutes of arriving and they were on hand to help with anything at all. The region was beautiful and not too far from some of the larger towns. I'd probably recommend a car unless you were going to stay near the villa all the time, but there were some nice walks through the forest nearby.

I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Swallows.

The cottage exceeded our expectations, as it was spacious, homely, clean and comfortable.This combined with Dave and Janet's kind hospitality really made for a memorable stay.

The pool area was wonderful and was superb for both morning swims and a quick dip after a day out sightseeing.

Location was perfect for peace and quiet, yet still very accessible to the main road networks for seeing what the beautiful Dordogne region has to offer.

The welcome pack that was provided ensured our holiday started with minimum stress and meant no sudden trips to the supermarket!

As this was our first trip to both the Country and region, Dave and Janet's advice and helpfulness enabled us to find out and learn lot's about the culture and region.

We shall be returning!!
