Les Taloches is paradise for children of all ages with 19 acres of wood and meadow to explore, yet within walking distance of the pretty riverside village of Tourtoirac. In an unspoilt area of the Dordogne, it is close to the fairytale château of Hautefort. Gracing two sides of a large, lime-tree shaded courtyard are the oak-beamed farmhouse - La Châtaigne - and a huge stone barn - La Grange - now transformed into a superb house. Both are self-contained for privacy - each has its own large private pool, secluded garden and separate drive. Also on site, for the energetic, there is an adventure play area, badminton, table tennis, a games room and bikes, but the lovely location is ideally rural for those who just want to relax in the sunshine.

A breath-taking living room with huge fireplace, a mezzanine lounge area for the TV or card games, a gallery library, a large farmhouse kitchen, antique furniture and a fourposter bed all create a very special atmosphere in this fabulous barn conversion. There are beams galore and two of the bedrooms have their own secluded terraces as a quiet retreat. The large terrace, with its barbecue, overlooks the fenced pool and is well lit for those balmy evenings outside. The two double bedrooms are en suite, while the two twin bedrooms share a bathroom.

In one of the loveliest parts of the Dordogne, a few miles from the fabulous chateau of Hautefort, Les Taloches offers woods and fields to explore, a games room, table tennis, badminton, a boules pitch, a sandpit, a substantial playground with playhouse and a range of bicycles to borrow. An easy wallk to the pretty riverside at Tourtoirac, nearby are canoeing, tennis, fishing, horse-riding, the possibility of rock-climbing or caving. On our doorstep are miles of tracks for walking or riding. We are also within easy reach of both the hundreds of castles, caves, pre-historic sites such as Lascaux and Les Eyzies, lakes with water sports, themed parks, medieval towns like Brantome and Sarlat and lively markets. The Perigord has lots of excellent restaurants to sample the gastronomic delights of this region - duck, foie gras, truffles.   • Weekly villa price includes bedlinen, towels (not pool towels), gas, local taxes, electricity. Heating, if required, may incur an extra charge.
    Off season and Low season rates (end September to end May, except 19 Dec to 4 Jan) exclude the cost of central heating which will be charged at cost.
    We take a Damages deposit of £300/400euros which will be returned - less deductions- withing 2 weeks of the vacation.
  • Please note: prices at Christmas and New Year are per day and includes heating and logs. Prices from 19 December 2009- 4 Jan 2010 vary depending on how many days are booked (min 3) - 325 Euros per day first 3 days, 250 Euros per day next 4 days, 175 Euros per day following days.
  • From mid September available for short breaks and any day starts for whole villa bookings.
    Bed & Breakfast is available at 65€ per en suite double room, breakfast included, during Low and Off Seasons

A very beautiful house in a tranquil location. A great escape from it all. The house and pool have all the facilities you could think of and more. There are many sights nearby to visit. I have returned many times and each time there is more to enjoy.
Excellent customer service from the owners!
I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this property to anyone.

I have visited twice now and they have been my most relaxing holidays ever.
Le Grange is a beautiful well maintained property with great character.
One of the best things is you can do as much or as little as you want. There are several bikes available to use and we spent a day exploring the surrounding countryside. We also canoed down a river in a nearby village.
John and Jo were extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area and really helped us when we wanted to go on day trips.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Thankyou

A great holiday (again!)-

We have done a couple of trips to Les Taloches now and have stayed in both properties, on both a family holiday and with friends - perfect for both!

Jo and John (the owners) have described the properties very accurately, and the houses and pools are maintained in immaculate condition.

There is loads to do for both adults and the kids (lots of pool toys in the garage in La Chataigne!). Bikes are provided (there are about 8 of them) and on the last trip we did a fun canoe trip down the nearby river. The houses are also great in winter (we were there Dec '07), and were super cosy. Lunches and suppers around the huge trestle table in Le Grange, and both houses have roaring log fires (wood is provided, although the boys rather enjoyed chopping their own in the courtyard!).

The local chateau is worth a visit and there are 3 lovely restaurants in the nearby town of Hautefort, with hundreds of others a short drive away - fois gras and carnard are the local specialities!

Jo and John are charming hosts and can tell you anything you need to know about the local area, although it is also a great place to just go and explore. I would thoroughly recommend either of these houses, and will most definitely be returning again.

La Grange is a lovely house with lots of room and the huge monastery table has seated 16! The lovely pool is glorious in summer and it makes a magical location for a special Xmas.
