Le Pont de Beune lies in a rural setting on the edge of the commune of St Genies, famous for its stone-roofed church and houses, in the heart of the Perigord Noir, so-called because of the abundance of woodland. The village is only a short drive away, as is the beautiful mediaeval town of Sarlat. The swimming lake at Tamnies is close by and the rivers Dordogne & Vezere are within easy reach. The house stands against a backdrop of woodland, looking westward down the Beune Valley, renowned for its wildlife, including orchids, rare butterflies, salamanders, deer, badgers and wild boar.
