15th Century stone farmhouse near Sarlat in the Perigord Noir

Le Pont de Beune is a 15th Century manoir/farmhouse standing in about 1.5 acres in a lovely rural setting in the Beune Valley, 10 minutes drive from the pretty village of St Genies & 20 minutes from the centre of medieval Sarlat. The house is furnished with antiques and oriental rugs. The huge main room has a magnificent stone fireplace, chestnut floor and massive beams and mullioned windows. Under this room is another large room with terracotta-tiled floor containing a ping-pong table and mini gym, but also providing a cool place to relax in even the hottest weather! The east side of the house has a sheltered veranda, a large terrace and a small courtyard. There is a private pool with a lovely view down the valley, small meadows and woods.

Le Pont de Beune lies in a rural setting on the edge of the commune of St Genies, famous for its stone-roofed church and houses, in the heart of the Perigord Noir, so-called because of the abundance of woodland. The village is only a short drive away, as is the beautiful mediaeval town of Sarlat. The swimming lake at Tamnies is close by and the rivers Dordogne & Vezere are within easy reach. The house stands against a backdrop of woodland, looking westward down the Beune Valley, renowned for its wildlife, including orchids, rare butterflies, salamanders, deer, badgers and wild boar.

What our guests have written:

Mr & Mrs G. 'What a wonderful house! We loved being here and wish we could have stayed longer.' Mr & Mrs B. 'Great place to enjoy a rest away from the busy world.' Mr & Mrs R. 'We loved swimming in the pool at sunset, the view past the old farm cart towards the tobacco fields, peeking out at different times through the upstairs triangular windows in varying light conditions, the starry nights. Thanks for the recommendation for la Meynardie - delightful place for dinner.' Mr & Mrs Y. (who stayed in February!) ' Beautiful and tranquil house. The boys enjoyed running around finding all the hiding places. The fire was a great success every evening. Thank you.'
