In the heart of the Dordogne, on the edge of the world famous village of Les Eyzies and in a beautiful riverside setting, these charming houses have been lovingly restored preserving the character with the use of oak beams, sandstone walls, wood and tiled floors. The well equipped homes each have all modern comforts including satellite TV together with their own separate terrace complete with BBQ and garden furniture. A pretty river runs through the estate and helps make the extensive grounds at Le Banquet an ideal place for relaxation. The large swimming pool is positioned to gain maximum hours of sunshine with ample shade provided by walnut, apple and pear trees. All are well catered for with a toddler’s splash pool and play area with swings and slide. Sleeping up to 5 people, this substantial stone built house has been beautifully restored with a wealth of exposed beams, local stone and woodwork offering modern convenience together with romantic rusticity. The sunken French style kitchen opens on to a large living and dining area, which has polished oak floors and exposed stonework. Upstairs is a modern bathroom with shower plus 2 good sized bedrooms, one double and one twin (which can convert to a single plus bunk beds if required thus sleeping 5 in comfort) Each window opens out to views across the pretty river and hills beyond. The cottage has a private riverside terrace, perfect for barbecues and outdoor meals. La Forge is a home away from home.

La Forge is set in a relaxing setting by a small stream and set in wonderful grounds. It is equipped with all you need to enjoy your stay. From its own washing machine, dishwasher, and sky tv to name a few comforts from home. The pool and playroom are well equipped and able to handle any age group. The local town of Les Eyzies is only 1 km away and has all the amenities needed. Karen and Rob the owners are friendly without being intrusive. They are very helpful and work hard to ensure your holiday experience is everything you hoped it would be. I can't recommend this place enough. We love it so much we have been 3 summers in a row.

Fantastic holiday in beautiful surroundings

We spent a week at Le Banquet with our two boys aged 12 & 14. The cottage was a perfect blend of French charm,modern conveniences and lush views. The pool and games room were great for keeping our lads happy while the peaceful terrace with its views across Rob's lovely gardens to the hills beyond was perfect place to relax in the sun with a book and a glass of local wine (as recommended by Karen and Rob). The location was central for exploring the area and there was also plenty to do locally; we visited caves and restaurents within walking distance and canoed from the village. Rob and Karen were great hosts, friendly and helpful yet discrete. We had a great time, thanks!!

Fabulous two weeks in the Dordogne

We have just returned from a two week break staying at Le Banquet. The sun shone, the house was brilliant - very clean and tidy, the pool was great with lovely views over the extensive gardens down to the river at the bottom where Daryl managed to catch a total of 80 fish over the 14 days a record even for him! Karen and Rob are the most welcoming and congenial of hosts with extensive knowledge of the area and where to eat and what to do. Les Eyzies is only 5 minutes by car but can be easily walked as well and is in by far the most central and convenient area for exploring the Dordogne valley with plenty of restaurants whether it is for children or adults with a more refined taste. We will be back again and again - couldn't fault it - Thanks Karen and Rob

fantastic holiday

We visited La Forge for our first foreign holiday with our baby daughter (9 months) and we had a wonderful time.
The property was presented beautifully, and had every amenity and facility we could have wanted. In particular all the baby facilities (cot, highchair, stairgate) that were provided were clean and in very good condition. Karen and Rob were great hosts and were really helpful in the run up to our holiday and while we were there. The property, grounds and large pool were really well looked after. The games room was a great addition, brilliant for entertaining parents when the children are asleep and useful for entertaining older children too.

Les Eyzies is a charming little town, and we often popped down for a coffee or a bit of lunch. There are plenty of varied restaurants and cafes where you can stop and watch the world go by. We also found a couple of places did delicious takeaway pizza which was great for a change in the evening. There are also plenty of bakeries for morning croissant.

The location of the property was ideal for discovering the area, we were limited on the distance we could travel, but still managed to see plenty. Sarlat was easy to get to, the airport (bergerac) was also an easy drive and took us under an hour. There are plenty of markets in easy distance too.

Overall, we had a wonderful time, and were sorry to leave. Karen and Rob provide a really friendly and warm welcome, and a beautiful and relaxing environment.
