LE CIREYSOU: 300 year old farmhouse, great private pool (16*7M), 6000m2 garden
The traditional stone-built farmhouse stands in its own private grounds of over 1 acre, and comes complete with its own large enclosed private swimming pool (16*7M). Close to the historic town of Bergerac, on the edge of Pecharmant vineyards, it is a prime base from which to visit all the touristic places of interest in the Dordogne as well as the Percharmant, Monbazillac and Bordeaux vineyards. Le Cireysou has been renovated in a manner that provides all the comforts of modern life yet retains the original charm and character of the original 300 year old farm building.

Our farmhouse is located in the countryside. Surrounded by fields and cows! It is an excellent base to visit the main touristic attractions of the Dordogne: Bergerac, Monbazillac, Issigeac, Beynac and Lalinde are a maximum of 20 minutes away, and Sarlat and Domme 45 - 60 minutes. The next village, Mouleydier - stands right on the banks of the Dordogne - (800 yards away) has all the traditional French amenities: bakeries, cafes/restaurant, grocers/small supermarket (SPAR), butcher, chemist and medical surgery with physiotherapist, newsagents (with English newspapers), flower shop etc. Thursday is market day. We recommend you also visit other traditional markets in the surrounding villages: Issigeac, St Eymet, Lalinde and Sarlat etc. A collection of flyers, available at the property will help you choose where and when to go and what to do.

| Notes: | The accommodation consists of a large beamed lounge dining room with feature fireplace and relaxing chesterfield sofas seating 10. Two French doors lead directly to the front garden. A fully modernised kitchen with breakfast bar offers all mod cons as well as separate dining area for family dining. French doors lead to the side covered terrace with outdoor dining table and chairs. The terrace continues around the rear of the house providing easy access to the extensive private grounds. Stairs lead from the lounge to a large open mezzanine area equipped with additional seating in a relaxing lounge style area with sofa seating for reading or watching TV/DVD/videos or listening to music. There is also a traditional style single boat bed and desk, table and bookcase. Moving along the corridor there is access to the three main bedrooms. One double comes with a fully fitted ensuite with shower. The second double has its own feature fireplace and external staircase to the garden. |
Grounds & Swimming pool
The house is surrounded by local farmers fields - with cows - providing a very peaceful and relaxing environment rich in wildlife. The grounds around the house cover 6000m2 so there is plenty of space to play games (football etc.) on the grass or to lie under one of the many trees of the garden. The swimming pool is 16m long by 7m wide and ranges from 1-2m deep which makes it a very large and enjoyable pool in which to swim. Situated approx 6m from the house the pool area is completely enclosed and private with a patio area and covered terrace. To prevent any allergies we have chosen a water treatment without chlorine which is provided through a salt machine system. An infra red alarm system protects the pool from accidental access. We are environmental friendly and we only use organic pest killers and no weed killer.
Wine Tasting & 'Cuisine Perigourdine'!
Le Cireysou lies at the crossroads of the Bergerac, Monbazillac and Pecharmant vineyards. Pecharmant is the most prestigious Bergerac Appellation Controlee and is fast becoming a sort after wine. If you prefer sweet wine, then head straight to the vineyards of Monbazilliac. A visit to the famous Chateau Monbazilliac is an absolute must and maybe you can even combine it with one of their summer concerts. Locals will be happy to explain the vinification process and show you their cellars which have been in their family for generations and maintained with great love and care. You are also only 1 hour away from the stunningly picturesque medieval village of Saint-Emilion and within easy access of many other famous Bordeaux vineyards. Do not forget to enjoy the famous “Cuisine Perigourdine” making the most of the region's duck population - the 'foie gras' is to die for! 'Magret' is also excellent on the BBQ! We can recommend local producers if you wish.
Dordogne touristic attractions
The property is a few hundred yards from the Dordogne river. You can follow the river up to Sarlat (45 minutes ) and visit some beautiful places enroute: Beynac & Cazenac, Domme and its ramparts, La Roque Gageac and Sarlat itself.
Other Activities Canoing, chateux, traditional 'perigourdine' food to discover, wine caves
Golf Information:
There is a golf course and leisure complex in Mouleydier: Chateau 'LES MERLES' offering an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts etc.
