Photos and Description of this Mouleydier holiday farmhouse 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6 to 8, near Bergerac, large garden and pool

The traditional stone-built farmhouse stands in its own private grounds of over 1 acre, and comes complete with its own large enclosed private swimming pool (16*7M). Close to the historic town of Bergerac, on the edge of Pecharmant vineyards, it is a prime base from which to visit all the touristic places of interest in the Dordogne as well as the Percharmant, Monbazillac and Bordeaux vineyards. Le Cireysou has been renovated in a manner that provides all the comforts of modern life yet retains the original charm and character of the original 300 year old farm building. The farmhouse stands at the end of a quiet country lane with little to disturb you other than the nearby cows and occassional tractor. The house itself stands in its own growds with lots of trees and grass for the childeren to explore and a wonderfully large swimming pool sufficient for the most ardent swimmer or sun lounger!

Further details for this holiday farmhouse rental in Mouleydier, France

Grounds & Swimming pool: The house is surrounded by local farmers fields - with cows - providing a very peaceful and relaxing environment rich in wildlife. The grounds around the house cover 6000m2 so there is plenty of space to play games (football, cricket etc.) on the grass or to lie under one of the many trees. The swimming pool is 16m long by 7m wide and ranges from 1-2m deep which makes it a very large and enjoyable pool in which to swim. Situated approx 6m from the house the pool area is completely enclosed and private with a patio area and covered terrace. To prevent any allergies we have chosen a water treatment without chlorine which is provided through a salt machine system. An infra red alarm system protects the pool from accidental access. We are environmental friendly and we only use organic pest killers and no weed killer.

Wine Tasting & 'Cuisine Perigourdine'!: Le Cireysou lies at the crossroads of the Bergerac, Monbazillac and Pecharmant vineyards. Pecharmant is the most prestigious Bergerac Appellation Controlee and is fast becoming a sort after wine. If you prefer sweet wine, then head straight to the vineyards of Monbazilliac. A visit to the famous Chateau Monbazilliac is an absolute must and maybe you can even combine it with one of their summer concerts. Locals will be happy to explain the vinification process and show you their cellars which have been in their family for generations and maintained with great love and care. You are also only 1 hour away from the stunningly picturesque medieval village of Saint-Emilion and within easy access of many other famous Bordeaux vineyards. Do not forget to enjoy the famous “Cuisine Perigourdine” making the most of the region's duck population - the 'foie gras' is to die for! 'Magret' is also excellent on the BBQ! We can recommend local producers if you wish.

Dordogne touristic attractions : The property is a few hundred yards from the Dordogne river. You can follow the river up to Sarlat (45 minutes ) and visit some beautiful places enroute: Beynac & Cazenac, Domme and its ramparts, La Roque Gageac and Sarlat itself.

Golf: There is a golf course and leisure complex in Mouleydier: Chateau 'LES MERLES' offering an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts etc.

Other Activities: Canoing, chateux, traditional 'perigourdine' food to discover, wine caves

Just right for teenagers and relaxed parents

MarkfromWiltshire Wiltshire
Review Submitted: September 4, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Ideal for the teenagers who want to lounge in the large, clean salt-water pool and who do not mind the uneven surfaces - and parents who are not being urged to keep the children amused all the time. House has character, is spacious and cool in the heat. No overlooking houses - only one is some 200 metres away but you would not know it was there. Large uneven garden - pity no places to sling a hammock but cannot have everything.

Would not really recommend it for more than one family and perhaps the teenagers bringing a friend each. There is only one shared bathroom and one ensuite (shower and loo) so guess that with lots of young children and adults the queues could get fractious.

Rooms cool during the day - helped by having one very large living room that rises to the roof creating a good air flow. Beds are somewhat uncomfortable - previous guests have commented and we all were quite stiff each morning but this seemed to wear off towards the end of the stay. Bring your own feather pillows.

Kitchen basic and high ceilinged but quite sufficient for simple but imaginative meals - and given the cost of living in France keeping it simple is kinder to the wallet. A new Carrefour has opened 10 minutes away which allows you to top-up with all the basics on arrival.

Local Boulangerie highly recommended for its rustic baguettes - always buy more than you think you need. They never last to lunch time.

Good local markets (but now not as cheap as they were in the past - they see the Brits coming I think) and head up into the hills north of the river and find a ferme auberge for lunch.

Would definitely return if we head down there again next year.

Truly lovely holiday

UK visit Kent, UK
Review Submitted: August 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a fantastic holiday during the last two weeks in July 2009

Our hosts and ther local caretaker could not have taken more care to ensure our holiday was wonderful. The pool is a great size, with pretty landscaping and private, only overlooked by the sunflower field.

The localtion was great, local village with boulangerie and small supermarket, easy drive to a new mega store and Bergerac as well as the main tourist centers of Sarlat, Domme etc. but by being that bit in a 'real house and village' we never felt smothered by high season tourists.

We loved the Bastide towns and went canoeing three times.

Especially recommend the Tarte et Tartines restaurant in Bergerac, Le Chat Perche in Campsegret - both of the hosts could not have been warmer or more helpful to the vegetarians in our party. AquaFun in Tremolat were well equipped and obliging and the owners are english as well as fluent in french.

Bergerac holiday house

family gogo Belgium
Review Submitted: August 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This is a fabulous big house inside and out with lots of room for kids to lose parents and visa versa, and being a family of 6 that need arises often. The bedrooms are all well equipped with comfortable beds, wardrobes and still with space for the kids to play there uninterrupted.
The swimming pool was a big bonus as it was a decent size with a shaded seated area too.
The kitchen is very well equipped, basically home from home facilities with plenty of space to eat there too, not that we did of course as the weather was so warm we all ate outside. There is also a large lounge area complete with open fire, comfortable sofas and dining area, but to be honest we never used that room as we wanted to be outside all the time.
The garden is fabulous, the kids were outside all the time either playing or sitting in the shade under one of the many trees, (there was enough for all of us to have our own tree and more.)
The location of the house was on the edge of a small village but we didn't explore that much as we were enjoying the peace and quiet of the house itself. We found it relatively easily and appreciated the folder with things to do in the local area very much.
The property was clean and tidy when we arrived and we would definitely recommend this house to our friends.
We didn't explore many restaurants but enjoyed going down to the river and walking around Bergerac.

Five us spent a relaxing week here in this beautiful house, enjoying the large pool, grounds and peace and quiet. There are plenty of places to visit and things to do nearby - chateaux, wine tasting, canoeing, and the very picturesque Bergerac. We were lucky to have fantastic weather the whole week. Would definitely go back there again.
