This beautifully renovated traditional farmhouse and connecting barn conversion are situated in 2.5 acres of garden adjacent to the English owners home. They have been furnished to an extremely high standard and are inclusive of all costs (electric, oil, wood etc.). They can be rented as two separate units (sleeping 11 and 8) or as one unit (sleeping 19). The grounds have panoramic views over rolling rural farmland with some spectacular sunsets which can best be viewed from the pool terrace and picnic areas. There is a generously sized (12x6m) heated and covered swimming pool. It's removable domed cover allows swimming to continue outside the usual summer period (available 22nd March to 5th November). English or French satellite TV is available in either house. There are swings, a climbing frame, a slide, a football pitch and plenty of space for children to run around in. Games room with table tennis, exercise machine and darts. An ideal location for a relaxing family holiday.

Beautifully renovated luxury four bedroomed house which can also be rented together with the barn conversion as one unit (add prices together). This property has retained all of the charm of an old property and combined it with superb modern facilities. There are lovely old oak beams together with excellent stonework. It has a mixture of ceramic tile and original hand sawn polished oak floorboards. There is a large family bathroom with a separate shower cubicle, a further generous en-suite shower room to the master bedroom and another toilet downstairs. This house has it's own terrace area set in well established flower beds with an outdoor dining area and barbecue. The kitchen breakfast room is equipped with every modern convenience and there is a laundry room and large dining room as well. This is a large and specious well equipped house well suited to larger groups but also suitable for those requiring a bit more space.

Nearest Airport: Angouleme at 50 Kilometres
Nearest Ferry: Caen at 530 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Angouleme at 40 Kilometres

La Tour Blanche which has all of the necessary facilities (small shop, bar/restaurant, butcher, baker, doctor, garage, post office etc.) is only 3km. Small market on Wednesday mornings. Mareuil is 8km away having more facilities and a supermarket. Small market on Tuesday mornings. Riberac with larger supermarkets and it's large and varied Friday market is about 20 km. Lac Jemaye, set in the forest with beautiful white sandy beaches, picnic areas, cafe/restaurants, canoeing etc is 30 km. To the east is the delightfully pretty riverside town of Brantome with it's prehistoric caves and ancient abbey built into the rocks. At 39 km there is Perigueux a delightful small city with beautiful medieval and Roman buildings, the old town is a particularly attractive place to stroll, shop and lunch. Further afield is Bordeaux with it's magnificent shops and the wine country along the banks of the river Dordogne. There are many spectacular Chateaux all along the river banks.

Notes: There is a pushchair available for small children. There are two fridges, freezer, dishwasher, toaster and coffee maker in the kitchen. The family bathroom contains a separate shower as well as the bath and a bidet. The property is decorated and fitted out to an extremely high standard. It is a large spacious family house ideal for two families to share or large family groups. All of the bedrooms have a freestanding fan available.

Idylic rural location, great pool

We stayed in the farmhouse for two weeks in August 08. We were impressed with the quality of the accommodation, particularly the lovely bath & shower rooms (one en-suite).

Strengths of this location include an unusually large pool. This has a partially removable plastic 'dome' cover, which can be secured by guests, though kids need to be watched when it is open.

This is a great farmhouse for those looking to leave their roofbox at home, as the owners provide a large amount of equipment (including cot, bikes, children's picnic table, barbecue etc.)

The farmhouse shares a common wall with the barn conversion, although like most walls in the house, this is so thick that very little noise got through in our experience.

A minor downside of the property's 'away from it all' location is that you need a car to get to the shops (in Mareuil, 7km), and that some of the Perigord's most famous towns (Sarlat etc.) are over an hour away. We much enjoyed visiting Brantome though, about 20 mins away, and the caves at Villars.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and were impressed with the standard of the accommodation provided.
