Fully restored Perigordian farmhouse offering Large comfortable lounge area with comfortable sofas & 2 sofa beds plus TV, DVD player & selection of DVD's plus stereo CD player. Fully equipped kitchen with Dishwasher, Washing Machine & Microwave plus seating for 10. Downstairs shower room with toilet. Upstairs offers Double bedroom, Twin / Double room (as required) and twin room with bathroom off. Outside there is a fully self-contained Double room with its own en-suite shower room. The Patio to the rear of the house has table and chairs together with access to the private swimming pool fitted with safety fencing as required by French safety regulations. The sun rises to the rear of the house giving a lovely location for breakfast and long sunny lunches. The large garden is fully fenced and gated and offers plenty of space for games including the, badminton and other games provided.

Set in a hamlet above the valley of the River Dronne Puydoyeux is a 2km walk from the village of St Saud La Coussiere. The house is well placed for visits to Brantome, Perigueux and the medieval towns of Sarlat & Beynac. There are a number of weekly markets in the towns around the region and the town of Limoges is only 1 hour away.

Notes: All linen is provided within the quoted prices. A cot is available at no extra charge. A fully compliant pool fence is fitted and we have tried to make the cottage child friendly. There is a wooden stairgate fitted at the top and bottom of the hard wood stairs for the safety of children and to encourage our 4 legged guests to stay downstairs. We have just fitted handrails in the shower in the annexe although need to point out that there are a couple of steps into and around the cottage.

Have you considered an Autumn break?: The Perigord Vert region of France is famous for many gourmet delicacies. Autumn sees the harvesting of many wild Funghi, along with the famous perigord truffles. On the 1st Sunday in October St Saud LaCoussiere hosts the Festival of Cepes and Veal. The truffle markets at St Alvere and Sorges operate from December through to February. There are many walks and cycle rides around the cottage which will give guests an oppurtunity to enjoy the crisp Autumn days before returning to the cottage with its large wood burning stove. We have friends living in the area who would be happy to give advice on walks and trips in the area.

Nice week in Perigord Vert

We stayed the last week of July 2009 with another family friends of us. Total 9 person (4 adults & 5 children).
Fortunatelly, we enjoyed a fantastic weather all the week. The place was fantastic. A big garden, nice pool, and the farm is very family.
The region is beatiful. We recommended you travell to the Perigord Noir 2 or 3 days.
We visited Sarlat, Brantome, Beynac. All the places in the sud of the Perigord and a little far away to the farm, but this was not an inconvennient. We enjoyed a lot the travel to there.
One day we were to Futuroscope (Potiers). It's long away too, but not problem for us.
Finally, we want recommended the farm to all the people wo read this words.

Dordogne get-away

Beautiful, isolated, rustic farmhouse with pool. We had a wonderful 3-weeks and will return.

The cottage was clean and very well equipped - including a telephone with free local calls (very useful). French-only TV, but a good selection of English DVDs.

The owner and his local agent were excellent to deal with and very helpful. The owner communicated well via email and provided accurate information (including good directions, which was useful given the isolated location). The property was clean on arrival and even included a welcome pack of the basics (tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, cheese - even a bottle of wine!).

The property also had all the essentials provided, from salt & pepper & herbs & spices to washing powders for the washer and dishwasher.

The pool and garden grounds were maintained several times during our stay.

The "locals" were very friendly and invited us around for dinner and drinks.

Highly recommended!

A spacious, clean and well presented farmhouse with a large garden in the French countryside, what a great way to spend the summer!

I had an amazing time relaxing, re-charging those batteries. Previous guests had kindly recommended loads of things to do, I took their advice on a few activities and they were right!.

I would definitely recommend this to friends and family, I'll be back next year.

Perfect!

It's not often that you come away from a 'first time' holiday let experience wishing that you'd booked for two weeks and not just one! That was our experience this summer at Puydoyeux.

Secluded, quiet, well equipped to an embarrassing level of thoughtfulness and detail and just about the most perfect rural French holiday experience you could hope to have.

The local village is only a short cycle or or a longer walk but provides an authentic French experience, (even in late July/early August we were something of a novelty) and if you don't fancy cooking then the family run Hotel does a really superb nightly menu (dine on the terrace under the trees is my advice) for about 25 euros each for 4 courses and a really superb vin de maison.

We really did try our best to get out and about and did make it as far as Grottes de Villars (really impressive cave) and a paddle by canoe down the Dronne river - both less than hour away- but ultimately us Mum's and Dad's were happy sipping vin and biere's whilst lying around the copiuous and private back garden whilst the children became so attached to the pool and all the lilo's and inflatable pool toys that we really didn't need to leave the confines of our mini-Chateau very often.

Brilliant experience- ring, book, go, and then rebook for next year-we will be doing so!

Exactly what we wanted!

After a brief struggle to find the place we found ourselves in a beautiful cottage with picturesque surroundings. The small hamlet of Puydoyeux consisted of about five houses and a couple of empty barns surrounded by farmland and hills as far as you could see.

Only a 5 minute drive away from the cottage is the village of Saint-Saud-Lacoussière which contains a lovely village square with two hotels/restaurants a two bars a tabac a mercerie and a boulangerie (perfect for those early morning crossaints!).

All we wanted from our holiday was to stay somewhere that was quiet, with good views, nice towns nearby to look around (for the folks) and plenty of good food and wine. That's exactly what we got.

Despite six of our twelve days forecast for rain we always found something to do, scrabble being our favourite pass time. If it got too cold we chopped the wood and loaded the fire in the living room, curled up and read our books or watched a dvd. There was badminton or boules in the garden once the sun came out and once it got blazing hot there was the lovely pool to plunge in to.

At the end of our twelve days we wished we could have stayed at least another week, the sun was shining when we left and we thought about sabotaging our journey home in a desperate attempt to stay another day. But alas we had to return back to the real world.

If you really want to get away from it all, have a place that serves all purposes and suits all weather conditions here's your place. Great food and wine available, great countryside and towns nearby what more could you ask for?
