Dordogne Farmhouse with private pool

Our farmhouse in Aillac is a spacious, stone farmhouse offering comfortable accommodation for up to 10 in four bedrooms. It has been renovated with all the character maintained. It's 10m by 5m swimming pool is fully terraced and alarmed. It is set in 7 acres of it's own grounds within the Perigord National Park. Aillac is a small hamlet of houses in the commune of St. Pierre de Frugie. It is situated on the edge of the Dordogne, bordering the Limousin. The cities of Limoges and Perigueux are approximately 30 minutes away. We are just 5 kms from either La Coquille or Chalus for everyday shopping and services. Limoges airport is 40 minutes away by car, so we are secluded without being isolated. Aillac has everything you need for a relaxing time in the heart of the French countryside.

Nearby are the towns of La Coquille and Chalus - where Richard the Lionheart was fatally wounded. The prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies and old towns such as Brantome, Bergerac and St. Emilion are within reasonable distance. The farmhouse is set within Parc Naturel du Perigord-Limousin (Perigord Vert) and there is beautiful countryside all around.

  • There are four large bedrooms over two floors. The master bedroom (30 sq m) is a lovely dual aspect room with super-king size bed and exposed beams on ceiling and walls. There is a magnificent open fireplace in the bedroom and a door leading directly to the herb garden. It is a fantastic place to watch the early morning wildlife as you look over the pool. Bedroom 2 (30 sq m) is also on this floor. It has twin beds and is also dual aspect, overlooking the front and side garden. On the top floor there are two further bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom 3 (25 sq m) has a double bed and 1 single beds (sleeping 3) and also has a PlayStation (PS1) with games. Bedroom 4 (20sq m) has 2 sets of twin beds (sleeping 4) and a small TV and video recorder. We also have a Travel Cot available for use.

The rural nature of the surroundings and setting of the house make it potentially unsuitable for the infirm and disabled. This house is built on a slight incline which means that the entrance path is uneven. Please give me a call to discuss your requirements.

'We had an absolutely fantastic holiday; the best weather of the summer, two weeks of almost unbroken sunshine, it couldn't have been better. We managed to see some magnificent chateaus and many of the other attractions in the area, whilst still getting in days of lounging in and around the pool.

We will certainly be recommending your farmhouse to our friends and others; it was so peaceful and set in beautiful countryside, yet near enough to main roads to be able to cover the area with short journey times.' Potter family, Sept 2007
