'The house is so comfortable and superbly decorated that you’d think you’re at home” - a wonderful compliment we’ve received from many guests, who have come here to look for peace and tranquillity. Only a few minutes away from Brantome, our 18th C self-catering stone farmhouse has undergone an assiduous restoration while retaining its original features and rustic charm: exposed stone walls, beams, traditional tiled floors, a stone fireplace. With years it has become very cosy and atmospheric. It is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in a small rural hamlet, that couldn’t be more genuinely French. Indoors we offer you an exceptional standard of accommodation & equipment, lots of volume and openings to the gardens, refined decoration and furnishing. Outdoors you’ll enjoy a romantic riverside setting, a built-in stone BBQ, 2 terraces and the utmost privacy of a courtyard with a pool set in the style of a Roman bath; when lit at night, it becomes magical!

The stylish property overlooks 1500sqm of private well kept garden. It has a stunning river frontage on one side and a small secluded field to another. It is located in a peaceful hamlet of c30 houses. One can swim or fish from the grassy bank of the river Cole, from which there are spectacular views towards a picturesque stone bridge. The setting offers the privacy you need to distress & savour the special surroundings of the Dordogne. There are also lovely views from all the rooms on nearby fields or on the sunset from the covered terrace. The delightful town of Brantôme called the “Venice of the Périgord”, as it is set on an island, is only a few minutes away, complete with shops and supermarkets, several boulangeries-pâtisseries, a market – a must on Friday mornings – several excellent restaurants, cafés, crêperies. Historic sites - a medieval abbey, an 11th Century belfry – together with the verdant rock face behind, provide a dramatic backdrop for this picturesque town.

Additional information about rental rates

  • The cost of electricity, water and town-gas for cooking is included in the rent. Bed linen and towels are provided and the beds are ready made up. The heating of the house is charged at extra cost, whenever needed (€30 to €70 per week according to season) payable locally, meter reading.
    Final cleaning: € 170, payable locally. Pool, garden and grounds are maintained routinely.


    A 30% non-refundable deposit is required on booking. The balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival. There is also a security deposit of €750. Deposits and balances are payable by way of bank transfer to France.


    Bookings run from Saturday to Saturday. Arrivals are from 4.00pm to 5.00pm, departures are by 9.30am.

    At certain times of the year (May/June or September), it is possible to rent the house at lower rates, depending on the number of bedrooms occupied - for example, if 4 people wanted to rent 2 bedrooms only (instead of 4) + the rest of the property, they wouldn't pay full price.   • The Saffron Suite (bedroom 1) has an extra large double bed. Adjacent to it is the Study (bedroom 3) with one single bed. The Pearl Grey Suite (bedroom 2) has a large double bed. The Lavender Suite (bedroom 4) - with 2 double beds - is ideal for children and has lots of toys (and a baby-foot). It is impressively spacious. In addition to this, there are 2 cots available (without sheets) for children up to two.

Notes: This Dordogne farmhouse offers on site activities such as: a tuned piano, tennis-table, badminton, fishing - permit required: ca € 30 for 2 weeks - boules, board games, great variety of toys. The pool is fenced-off and can be heated on request (there is a charge of between €30 and €100 per week, according to season). It measures 10m x 6m and is 1,40m deep. It has a 40 cm deep shallow area for children. The covered terrace located next to the stone in-built BBQ is ideal for outdoor dining with views of the sunset and towards the river. There is another terrace near the pool, with an awning.

On first floor there are 3 suites: the Saffron Suite with a double bedroom, a study with a single bed, a dressing room, and a bathroom; the Pearl Grey Suite with a double bedroom, a bathroom; the Lavender Suite (ideal for children) with 2 double beds, a comfortable double sofabed, a shower room located on a mezzanine.

Gastro-holiday : Gastro-holiday 'Escape' Why not experience a 'gastro-holiday' Escape? After touring local markets with our French Chef to find the best produce, you'll be taught how to cook local delicacies. Brushing up your French with a native speaker is the other attraction of the stay. We offer several 'Cooking and French Escapes' for groups up to 7 participants. Traveling Chef When holidaying at the farmhouse, you could choose to relax completely and spend valuable time with family and children while being “treated” by a traveling chef: he will plan the meals with you, shop for the ingredients, take over the kitchen, cook and clear up afterwards. Rates: € 150 + ingredients.

Additional services : We offer additional services to make your stay even more comfortable: - Stocking of the refrigerator before your arrival to save you rushing up to the supermarket (items to choose up from a list) – cost: €45 - Hiring of a travelling French Chef: €150 per meal + ingredients - Heating of the pool: €30 to €110 per week according to season (meter reading). - Holistic massage, reflexology and Indian massage by qualified therapist who can visit you for treatments for 2 or more people.
